I tried a little bit of Displacer. Man, his teleport has so much recovery. (I did not find any teleport combos. Just EX teleport combos. You can now make grounded EX teleport combos. That looks hella cool but that seems useless.)

I think his main starters will be:
34 (Mid, Overhead),
214 (Mid, Mid, Low -2 on block)
b2 (Double overhead unseable and -63 on block with a big push back of Raiden... The animation is super funny on block)
b33 (Low starter unseable) (I don't think it's hit confirmable... You need to commit... Or I am too old to see it) (The three other starters are hella hit confirmable)
f22+4 seems interesting.
(I am sure you'll add some quicker and safer mid/hi starters too...)

And his finisher b111+3... I guess. (Instead of using the 1+3 at the end, you can use the throw button if you find that easier to do)


I found that:

Corner: 1 meter.
34, 34, 34, EX df2, b111+3 (42 %) (I tried to insert 213 between EX df2 and b111+3... I failed, but it might be possible)
214, EX df2, 34, 213, b111+3 (46 %)
b3, 34, 34, EX df2, b111+3 (43%)
b33, EX df2, 34, 213, b111+3 (43 %)

Mid Screen, it's hard for me to use the run in combos, but I guess it will come.

Teach me better combos please.

(You can also begin a combo after your EX fireball hits. You have plenty of time to run... It's kind of sad it's easier to run from across the screen than to do a teleport, after the EX fireball connects.)

I think you're all jumping the gun a little. If he has 50/50's then he try to block confirm strings into a second orb and use the advantage into a 50/50, and the fact that he can link another orb means he can repeat this on a read.

Regarding teleport, he can still no doubt use it to bypass zoning, bait whiffed moves and escape corner pressure. Please calm down.

Thank you very much, but I am sure there's a way to make WAAAY better midscreen combos. Maybe double run combos ? I dunno.

And his best string, for me, is 214. H, M, L. It starts in 9 frames and is -2 on block. He has no string + on block. (5 strings 0 on block). His only poke + on block is d4, low, pretty long range. + 2 on block. Starts in 12. (I only speak of Displacer, I did not test the other ones. Maybe in Thunder God he has better frames)

So far I like the thunder God variation the best. Displacer's teleport has too much recovery. But I ve only played the game for one hour. I ll report more once I disect the game longer

So, for Displacer, I found a better midscreen combo. But I wont use it ingame. Way too hard for me.
214, EX df2, Minirun, 213, Run, 11, bf3 (38%)
Or if you prefer, you don't do the first Minirun but you time perfectly your 213.
Same with b33 as a starter.

Thunder God continues to look the funnest out of Raiden's variation.





Those extra hits do a considerable amount of damage, pop up like a motherfucker, and chip like nobodies business.

They also look super cool.

I mean, not only does it demolish people in the corner blocking or not, Raiden has a fucking move that pushes him and the opponent all the way to the wall for free. That's obscene.

The electricity goes pretty damn far and looks to be somewhat safe at max range on block as well.

I'm so happy that every character has their own unique dirt and ridiculousness to them.

Escaping corner pressure isn't just when they've got you point blank in the corner. If you are in the corner but they aren't quite on top of you, you could just tele port to jump distance behind and you're out of the corner.

So it is not really corner pressure. But I see what you say. And even without that, I think that duf TP could frustrate some opponents. BTW, still messing with Displacer. Can someone confirm that b2 / b3 is a true 50/50 ?

yh, but b2 is -63 and can't be cancelled into anything.

B33 is decent but hard to hit confirm of it. It says B34 is low into overhead on the moves screen but when I do it the 4 hits mid...

3,4 seems like it will be his go to launcher. 214 is -25 on block but punish can be baited by cancelling into tele which is apparently 28/29f recovery now if frame data is currently correct. I twas around -13 to punish in mk9 but full recovery in mk9 was 29f also so if I usnderstand it correctly it seems similar in mkx. This is how somberness explained it:

19, but because your character is facing the other way, you can't punish it with something with that high of execution. Teleport is essentially -13. Here's the deal... it almost always takes 5 frames to turn around, but if your attack is read on the frame that Raiden first switches sides then it takes 7 frames to turn around. I just assume Raiden disappears completely and the game engine just explodes for 2 frames. This means that an attack with 14 execution will never punish it if you have to turn around, 1(to not have it take 7 frames to turn)+5+14 = 20.

And I just realised shocker is only -6 on block with a bit of pushback so cancelling into that is also a good option to end some risky mixups strings more safely.

I messed around with master of storms setups yesterday trying to find some dirt but couldn't find any

edit: experimented with punishing tele with up to 20f startup moves and I was able to (with quans trance for example), so it's quite punishable, but that's just with me in practice when I know it's coming, not a real match situation.
