Breakthrough - Balanced RIP Kenshi. Why Balanced is Bottom 5 in MKX and it's a shame.

some of your suggestion were find but others are kind of "broken" like making ex Rk +6 on block :eek:

i agree that kenshi is one of the weakest characters as of now in the game but he is alse very tricky to buff. i am sure that nrs do not want him to be able to do what he was able to do in mk9 to like 80% of the cast.

there is a way to buff kenshi so that he is very very good without making him win every matchup 8-2 lol but i really don't think nrs would make that move to bad

Fun fact: For those complaining about moves that are both armored AND plus on block, there's actually one move in the entire game with that distinction....

Once again. I am a Scorpion main, my main training partner offline has been a Kenshi main until VSFighting last month. I want some cold hard facts about these armor breaking moves that can only be abused against Kenshi.


You want a 14 frame tracking HKD to have the recovery of a standing jab?

You want an armored STARTER to be advantage on block?!

Just to prevent being ran in on and punished by a stamina hungry character?

Come on man, some characters not only don't have a safe armored move, but don't have an armored starter at all in any variation.

With all due respect, these suggestions have not been thought through, I was the voice of reason of behind the problems with Kenshi's frames in May or so, but I really don't think it's surprising that NRS haven't gone through with these ideas.
his "armored launcher" leads to a 30ish% combo, with a fullscreen position, mean while, Quan, ends his string + on block, and in position to do the "unbreakable vortex", Tanya has an armored, "armor breaking" launcher safe on block, and Shinnok still has his too... so, why not him, the potential is there, they just need to have some balls, to fix this character.... + Kabal's zoning was a lot more broken than Kenshi's, Cyrax dmg potential was a lot higher than Kenshi's, Smoke's pressure, was also better than his..... kenshi was not the only character broken in MK9....

you make TF -20 on wiff and Rk + 6 on block and at the same time you make tks faster and i can tell you for sure that the run system wont help many characters in the game he will rape

MK9 Kenshi was boring as golf to watch on stream and in gameplay.
I'm glad that style of play doesn't exist in all characters in MKX, zoning isn't like MK9 or IGAU.
Much rather watch Zyphox chip damage and dominant his opponents with Kang or Guamo swag his way to victory.
But knowing how this community works, the cry for buffs will be answered, especially with the NRS illuminati.

B2 is overhead
B1 is -25 on whiff
Slightly faster backdash

Balanced
Flurry is -30 on whiff
Ex flurry comes out on block and hits mid but -15
Ex Shoulder is +4 on block
Ex Shoulder is 10f
EX oh slash comes out on block and is 0

Possessed
Ex teleport is 12f

Kenjitsu
Tele grab whiff issues fixed
Rising Sword is 12 frames and has a bettter hit box
Ex rising swords whiff issues gone
Regular tele slam -14

I personally wouldn't make any ex launcher plus on block. But that's a design oversight that is far to common in this game. Also -20 flurry on whiff could be a bit much then again we have forward advancing normals that recover in 14 frames or lesser that plague this game.

Once myself and pig sit down this weekend and go over our notes for each variation and compare them I believe we will have a fair character with proper holes that allow for reads to beat him. While allowing him to thrive in both a space control and footsie based fight style.

In a game where we have run mechanic. Characters with 50/50 which leads into another 50/50 with fast normals, even more, advancing ones?

Yeah i find thats quite reasonable. Maybe 25F but thats really the worst.

People forget the whole concept, Kenshi in Balanced has NO upclose game.

Yes he needs an armored move which in EX needs to be + on block. How do you expect Kenshi player to get out of pressure otherwise?! With what? 9F S1 or 8F D1?! 4,2,1 starts high and is slow. What the hell do you expect us to do?

No way that EX RK should be -17 on block which we mostly use as get away / jump in / crossups blow up. This is up close, -17 on block in this game is death into a 50/50 next lol.

Kenshi in Balanced is a zoner and as such he has to have GOOD zoning tools. Many characters have better zoning and way better up close game. No to mention vortex and other dirt...

I can talk with other Kenshi mains @Pig Of The Hut, @Ashenar (maybe a PM council?) and few others too and present more completed list of Kenshi - needed buffs but i can tell you right now that when it comes to Balanced it wont be far from what i've proposed. Because really it's reasonable or very close to it.

First of all, I didn't say anything about MK9, at all. But maybe it's a good thing you brought it up.

Kabal's zoning tools were only OD in conjunction with his other tools. Do you honestly think anybody would actually be worried about Stryker if he gained Kabal's gas blasts?

A lot of these problems Kenshi supposedly has now were kinda the same deal in that game, Flurry, while not as bad as whiff, wasn't particularly good if nobody was home, and while there wasn't a run mechanic for everyone to get in immediately and whiff punish with a full combo, things like Freddy's Hellspike or Smoke's Smoke Bomb would certainly make your life miserable when you did whiff it. And it didn't even make contact on crouch blockers.

I think Kenshi's problem in this game is his lack of safety and lack of utility in close quarters, at least in Balanced. The push needed to be toned down from MK9, whether slower on startup or more punishable on block, but it didn't need to be both IMO. And I don't think it would be unreasonable if he at least gained a safe single hitting overhead like his old B2.

And about those other examples, Tanya needs two bars to convert a full combo from her's, the reason why it was stupid was because the armor could resist two hits, but that's now gone.

Shinnok's only safe on block launcher recently got indirectly nerfed on the stagger animation, and can now no longer run up and jail a F4 from it. Mustard himself tested this earlier this week.

Quan Chi? Can't use plus frames when you're on the floor. People need to calm their tits about his new D1 too. Yes, he can now reliably challenge pressure, but +3 ain't enough to put the ball in his court. If you're talking about Warlock, then yeah, that makes sense and I take that back.

Beside Goro all of those characters have atleast 1 or even 2 decent - good variation. Kenshi has none.

Also it's not a matter of thinking, his zoning tools in balanced are shit.

This isn't MK9.
kenshi was never broken S+ tier in this game so the cast has always been able to compete with him.

This is a totally different game and if they slapped mk9 kenshi in mkx it wouldn't be as bad.
