Street Fighter V General Discussion

Man, I'm so happy right now. Ibuki is my new main for sure!

I had heard of her before but honestly never seen her in action, after today's trailer I knew I was going to use her. What type of character is she? What fighting style does she have? Obviously she might be different but ninjutsu brings what to her play style?

In SF4 she was a mixup-heavy character and had a vortex off of that neck breaker knockdown you see in the video.

Personality-wise all you need to know is that she's bae.

From the very little I know about 3rd strike and what I've seen in SF4 and actually played in SFxT (that game needs a comeback). She has a nice set of target combos, she'll be offensive, hopefully have her overhead (wonder if they'll allow NC from it.), looking mixup/reset heavy. She'll probably have matches with the quickest stuns we've seen so far. But it looks like they got rid of her knockdown kunai game from SF4 with the way her trajectory changes after throwing kunai (which might be a command move and her V-skill). I hope they make at least ex up kick a reversal. And she'll probably have decent buttons and one of the best anti air normals.

Is there detailed info on her?

I think she needs some graphical upgrades. Especially the kunai. The character can at least be masked in motion.

She's very mobile. She has a command dash that has some invincibility frames kind of like Bison. She also has a command jump and she can throw her kunai while in the air. She has a hit grab that you can juggle into for lots of stun. She was a vortex character in IV, but in this game, she'll probably be more of a hit and tun type character with some good resets and mixups. Looks like they gave her some more zoning tools with Kunai as well.

Haven't really had any interest in the game until Juri comes out. But Ibuki has piqued my interest to hold me over. Ha I didn't even show up to my mk or sf pools

I'm totally down for a vortex character. As a Smoke player in MK9, I like the idea of only having to outplay your opponent once in the neutral then winning.

What’s up World Warriors!

We’re happy to announce that Ibuki -- everyone’s favorite kunoichi -- is making her return in Street Fighter V! She has always been a very tricky, technical character so players who are looking for a challenge won’t be disappointed as she comes with loads of new ninjutsu tricks up her sleeve to keep her opponent guessing at all times. Hit the jump for more details on our latest DLC character!

Ibuki has been trained in the deadly art of ninjutsu from an early age in a village located in the mountains of Japan and is often seen with her pet tanuki, Don and her best friend Sarai Kurosawa. She is constantly tasked with difficult missions and rigorous training and dreams of one day finishing her ninja exams, leaving all this behind to live a life of a normal schoolgirl.

Her first appearance was in Street Fighter III: New Generation where she is sent by her clan to retrieve the “G file” from Gill, which she obtains after their battle. This document details the start of a new mysterious project and Gill condescendingly instructs her to use it as a reference paper for her studies.

In Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, she goes on to complete her training with Oro in the hopes of passing her ninja exams and furthering her education. She does so and is accepted to a university which turns out to be just another chapter in her training as it is revealed to be a secret ninjutsu training facility. Street Fighter III is also where we learn that she has quite the knack for picking up rivals, as you’ll see in her special intro with Makoto.

Her next major appearance was in Super Street Fighter IV, where she sneaks off from her ninja training to search for cool guys, meeting various rivals like Sakura Kasugano and eventually ending up back at the ninja training camp, late for her exams.

Besides the mainline Street Fighter titles, she has also appeared in a number of crossover games such as Pocket Fighter and Street Fighter x Tekken.

Character Overview

Ibuki has always been a very mobile character with various target combos, but she now has even more ways to mix-up the opponent with the ability to glide through the air and toss out ninja bombs, making it very difficult to predict where she will land and where her next attack will come from.

Kunais have also been a cornerstone of her playstyle, but now players will have to be much more strategic in their use as she can only stock five at a time before she has to quickly obtain another set. That said, their utility is just as powerful as ever as she can send her entire stock flying at the opponent for serious damage.

V-SKILL: Tenrai

Ibuki builds up energy and blasts it from her palm towards the opponent. The blast range is dependent on how long Tenrai is charged for.

V-TRIGGER: Isshaku Horokudama

Ibuki digs into her bag of ninja tools and throws a bomb at the opponent. Depending on which direction is held upon activation, the bomb can either go off quickly, after a slight delay or after a longer delay. Ibuki is extremely crafty and impatient, however, so there might be other ways to trigger the explosion.

CRITICAL ART: Kachofugetsu

The pinnacle of Ibuki’s ninjutsu training! Ibuki launches the opponent into the air, quickly following after them. She then performs a series of ninjutsu seals, culminating in a large scale blast to the opponent’s skull.

You probably notice from the trailer and screens, but we also have a brand new alternate stage coming! It’s a day time version of the Kanzuki Estate stage, aptly named Estate at Noon. Look forward to throwing down among the sunlit cherry blossoms!

That’s it for today, but we have a lot of exciting news coming very soon! June is going to be a huge month for Street Fighter V, with the highly-anticipated Story Expansion and more surprises planned, so stay tuned and be sure to follow us @StreetFighter on Twitter for the latest updates!

Im Salty.

EDIT: I suppose my VTrigger confirms are getting a little bit better.
Bruh you get V-trigger after every haymaker to my face, then a damn mixup. I kind of hope Zangief's trigger loses the timer and only has a set number of uses. But I like being able to run from that mess.

Yo Ibuki finally going full anime. I def got to pick her up.

So I guess another Karin V-skill? Wonder if she'll have a TC for it or at least easy combos into it.

It's when people get outplayed so they have to deal with Mika's strike/Throw mixup then because they're never right, they lose. Lot of salt because Mika's is the easiest form of the grappler mixup. Only hindered by her weakness in the neutral game. Which is typical Capcom design philosophy.

Case in point. Note that the salt can be felt even when not being the player getting bopped.
It's annoying seeing people lose to Mika on a random clap landing or whatever other shit she does. The problem with the Mika weak neutral mantra is that it's weak vs characters with really good neutral. For characters that don't have that top tier neutral, yeah, have fun. And even the good neutral characters have to play extremely precise. Not to mention, it's not even terrible in the first place.

you're negative when using just the vacuum? And I meant to ask earlier but, you think you were out of range when we both did super?
The vacuum is -6 if you don't hit. But you can V-reversal on reaction anyway if you aren't down with trying to get a punish and fucking up.

the way I see it, it's not a ToD and I really have no clue what would capcom even change about her. You could take the reset away but then you'd still the same situation. And if they nerf her grabs then she'd have to get something somewhere.

As for playing against her, if you're getting raw clapped on then that Mika either has great spacing/whiff punishing or you're no too good on that front. I'm bout to watch CB today though.

Knew I could V-reversal but I figured on hit he'd be at least positive.
