Just throwing this out there but some characters people like piss me off. Characters up to UMK3 are respectable no arguments. Select few from MK4 are ok (reiko, quan and maybe shinnok). Deadly alliance 1 (kenshi) deception none, Armageddon (just the perfect terrible most awesome game in the world. no new characters... kinda) MK9 none. MKX 2 (D'Vorah and F/T) outside of that it makes me mad to see a new character instead of a UMK3 character.

Everytime they make a MK game they should start with the UMK3 cast and build from there. Then I'd probably always be happy.

I love Scorp too, then probably Sub and Lao. Tremor is dope as hell too this the first game I've played with him in it Bu he has the potential to get on that list. These characters are all just a summary of playstyle and aesthetics - I specifically only like Lao in MKX, he's not quite for me in other games

Pink is my favorite colors and sais are awesome. Rafael would approve.

Princesses deserve to be badass and bladed fans might be the most awesomely elegant weapon ever.

The concept of a banshee/siren is cool and she's a badass female that can fucking fly.

My all time favourite character is probably scorpion, however it's tough because of the Mortal Kombat games I played, I rarely fell in love with his play style, and yet, the character is just too badass to ignore. I also feel as if he is the most consistent character in terms of motivation, story, depth (i guess it pays to be ed boons favourite).

As for playing, in MKX it has to be:
1. Cassie Cage
2. Kenshi
3. Liu Kang

Deadly Alliance:
1. Movado (I guess most ppl would like Kabal better, but as I've only played two MK games "seriously" i never got to play Kabal)
2. Frost
3. Scorpion

I played MK1, 2 and UMK3 as a kid but always on easy so to see the fatalities >.<

Oh also honourable mention for Cyrax and Sektor, although not a big fan of how Sektor's character became this stingy, legalistic disciplinarian of the Lin Kuei.

MKX Favorite: Takeda
I think he's the most interesting new character in the game. When I first saw Arturo doing his b+2,1 on stream, I knew he would be my favorite character before I ever even touched the game.

All Time
#1 - MK2 Reptile
To this day, MK2 Reptile is my favorite character to play, ever, despite his bottom tier status. His look and moves are so iconic to me, and he feels completely at home in the MK2 engine. I still remember the first day I went to the arcade to play MK2, thinking holy shit I get to play as the secret character from MK1!

#2 - MK9 Ermac
God damn, this character was fun. I've always had a thing for Ermac since he was supposed to be a hidden character, but this incarnation was particularly awesome. Instant air blast was badass, levitate cancels were swaggy if not useful, and his charged b+2 cancels were fun as hell.

#3 - MK3 Sektor
MK3 is so damn good, and Sektor feels so damn stylish to me. I thought the introduction of robots were cool to begin with, and his teleport and missles sealed the deal for me. Still my #1 pick when throwing down MK3.

MK3 Sub-zero might be my favorite on a deeper level than others in terms of gameplay, like I love Reptile but there's something about beating people with Unmasked Sub.

I love Quan Chi's design and concept, to me the best MK4 character and maintains a very interesting appeal throughout the series IMO.

And my favorite overall character, is Shao Kahn. I realized this around MKD, and when I watched the intro for MKA I totally marked out for Shao Kahn hitting home runs with the hammer and how close he got to the top of the pyramid, only to be taken away by Onaga.

UMK3 Ermac - Easely the version of Ermac who i had the most fun with it

MK9 Skarlet - Very interesting Character, the way she played in general, and her visual aspect really went well on defining Skarlet, i always had a thing with ninjas and Kunoichis in general, Skarlet was the first MK Kunoichi design that really called me into the character, she used swords and Kunais, different from Jade who used Boomerangs and a Staff, but Jade was fun too.

MKX Scorpion - Scorpion has been my favorite character ever since MK1, i've always enjoyed his ineractions in each franchise, i think he only becomes better in each time he goes into a new game.

1. By far Kung lao. He has the wing chun chain fists, teleports, screams while he does divekicks, stylish normals overall and it was a brilliant idea to make his hat a weapon and the multiple ways the developers made him use it.

2. Rain, a ninja that uses thunder and water. I loved his roundhouse kick in UMK3, in mk9 it was kinda weird but still liked it. His water bubble move looked a lot coller in UMK3 as well. He is the coolest ninja in mk imo.

3. Kitana, coolest looking female ninja who uses fans as her weapons. I really liked her in mk9, not so much in MKX(that face). Too bad royal storm has no mask, otherwise I would play her as my secondary. She also has the coolest specials out of all the female characters imo and her normals look really nice as well because she uses her fans for her normals too, they aren't just used as projectiles. I like her pretty much for the same reasons I like kung lao.

Getting better with age
MKX Fav : D'vorah by a mile. Very unique character design that's a breath of fresh air to the series. Even the voice acting stays true to the design. There is no warmth to her, always cold and calculating like the insects she harbors.

(Pre-MKX) Kitana : Before MKX you could see Kitana as a beacon of light amongst the chaos. Yes, when cornered she wont hesitate to kill you. But still she strives for peace. Sadly, since her "accident" in mk9 story shes become a shriveled shell of her former self. No more light, only bitterness and contempt like her mother.

MK3 Cyrax/Sektor : When i was younger, robots were kewl :3

(Various) Rain : I liked that someone else other than raiden had lightning strikes. (no one likes nightwolf)

2. Hotaru- Need I say more. He came to lay the law and the smack down, order realm style.
