Mortal Kombat X Rankings Now On SRK

Any tournament covered on SRK or EH will be in there in the format given. Those editors decide how much they list, usually based on what they deem important.
It would be great if TO's would submit tournament results. That increases their chances of exposure, and easens the burden of editors needing to watch all tournaments live

I will try to follow results posted on the main page here too from now on to make sure we get the bulk of data in

It's a good attempt, but I think there's gotta be some flaws when I look at the rankings and see I am barely top 10 by placing 1st in the by far biggest major (273 man) MKX has had to date. I don't think there's a tournament that has even had half that number of entrants.

There definitely is some sort of disconnect between the ranking system theory and it's implementation, as previous posts it was cited that lack of tournaments due to being early in the games life is causing this. What I don't get is how can this be true yet placing 1st in the biggest tournament to date, with the biggest pot bonus, can mean so little in a ranking system this early in the games release.

That said, every ranking system has it's critics, sometimes fair and sometimes unfair. In the end I think we all just want it the ranking system to align with the community opinions on what counts the most, while following a standardized format. It's a challenge that I wouldn't want to undertake, that's for sure.

PS If you could put my team as GGA that would be cool

Locals/"state wide" tournaments shouldn't count. By that, a "Province wide"(Canada), should count, which I've won 3 of.

If they have good numbers they should count, if a 24 man online tournaments counts.

These are not weeklies, and people drove over 4 hours to get there. I do not expect to get half of the points that the person who got 8th place at Combo breaker got, but it should be worth something.

I agree. I've won locals too but I don't feel those should be considered despite the fact that my local scene is very strong.

I think ONLY majors should count towards ranking points. That's just my opinion.

So any 20+ man tournament where someone had to travel some amount of distance to go to should count? I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to see where you're coming from friend.

I would be fine with this, if WNF and Next LVL was not counted towards ranking.

We had 45+ in both tournaments. it would of been a lot more if more of SFL was able to attend. And a state wide tournament in FL is nothing to sleep on as I would say we have one of the strongest statewide scenes.

I am not here to argue either, just saying if some gets points for getting top 16 in a 24 man online tournament, should "state wide" 45+ tournaments get some love?

To me all tournaments counts simply because when there is enough data, the regional ones will be ranked very low and wont matter that much. The only system in effect is against 'weekly tournaments', because that could spam the system with high earning locals if a lot of high skilled players attend those. So the system puts them with fixed weight type of CIRCUIT (scoring low, disregarding auto-weighting for other tournaments)

Of course it would be better if we could use discriminators like player attendance and pot size. That would avoid a local tournament with 8 great players just doing random stuff that nobody cared about outranking real large majors. But currently, that doesnt' actually happen, so it's theoretical.
Look at the AE2012, USF4 and MVC rankings and you'll see that it gets it correct after a while without intervention. even IGAU has shapen up quite well.

I understand that but doesn't that mean early tournaments such as EVO will be using a flawed ranking system to seed the players for a $50k pot bonus? That just doesn't sit right with me.

I agree that given time, the system will sort itself out and the top 30 people will deserve to be where they are ranked more or less. But at the present, it's just not accurate and there's many large pot bonuses being given out and it would be nice for players to be accurately seeded.

I agree that given time, the system will sort itself out and the top 30 people will deserve to be where they are ranked more or less. But at the present, it's just not accurate and there's many large pot bonuses being given out and it would be nice for players to be accurately seeded.
I agree, but when you have 5 - 6 majors to go by you can only seed 48 people.

The best way to do it early is to find someone who really follows the scene and properly do the brackets / pools.

Can you break down the tournament labeling system? Premier mandatory, Circuit, Premier 5 etc. What does it all mean? How many points is each worth?

And then what criteria you use to place specific tournament into each label.

Thanks.

Thanks for the links but I am really only inserting it if there is a flat list of results, listing a recognisable handle and character. Challonge is hard to format correctly, and does not list characters. Many result threads here are also written as a book and don't list results that are copy-pastable.
So I took those that are usable and listed them as weekly where applicable, thanks.
