**FYI This thread was made days before Injustice 2 was officially announced**

With the rumors going around about injustice 2, If it truly going to come out. Do you think MKX and inj2 can co-exist? NRS community seems to always drop the older game. It would be sweet to see both as main games in tournaments

Well if we're going by history... then no.

But I don't think it's just a matter of the NRS community necessarily... NRS themselves need to show support for the game well after the release of Injustice 2 rather than completely abandon it. (Willing to fix any newly discovered bugs/glitches, pot bonuses, etc.)

obviously they will. just a handfull will drop mkx for IGAU2. but when KP3 drops before IGAU2 then we will have some very cool and OP chars and maybe a new game mode and stage, as well as some PATCHES

It depends on how the community will see Injustice, and if Injustice can differentiate itself well enough to bring new players that don't necessarily play MKX.

Also, it's up to NRS to keep supporting MKX as well, if they do that, i believe it's possible.

I don't think they will competitively. Once Injustice 2 comes out all high level players will probably move on to it. The only people who will remain playing mkx is going to be just for fun.

Sure, obviously Injustice will attract more at first since it's new(this is the norm for any new big game that comes out) but I'm pretty sure people will still be in MKX. As a fan of both MK and DC, I'll be playing both.

It really comes down to what game NRS and ESL support. If the pot bonuses/support is geared heavily towards IGAU2 then yeah the majority will jump ship

Both can not be main games except many at 1 or two events. KIT being one that comes to Mind and thats cause Vandy Loves us. *makes sure to go to KIT* The game can still be played at tournametns as a side game if people are willing to enter. Will it have large pot bonus? Probably not. But if you actually like the game go to events and play it. Instead of keyboard warrioring it up on tym and reddit. Even if you go to one event a year it shows that you support the game. If you see the game not at the tournament talk to the TO about doing a side event. Its not that hard. But the way the community is MKX will probably not be played along with injustice even though it can be

Lol at close to 200 entrants at Combo Breaker and 130 pre-reg at CEO + weekly ESL hype = Barely Exists
Go look up my posts about the non-existent support for all of that hype shit you just mentioned here at what should be the main hub for exactly that. If you can find them in this graveyard of a website, that is.

THAT'S what I'm referring to, so calm your tits. Despite having some of the hypest gameplay yet as of late, the community presence just doesn't seem there like it should be. And what is there, seems like it's just for the money. I suspect Injustice 2 will be a nail in the coffin unless KP3 drops to breathe some more life into this game. I still play and enjoy this game but coming here is a downer.

It comes down to will NRS continue to support the game. People won't go and compete in the tournaments where there's money. That's just a fact. If people are going out to compete they wanna get something from it. No dev support means smaller tournament showcase meaning most people will be leaving it professionally. Without the high level players people finding things and just the community as a whole will eclispe.

If they could find a way to equally support both games then that would be the best situation for both games I just don't think that it'll be possible for them to do both. I hope they find a way I just don't think it's likely.

People wanna bring up history without actually looking at the history.

MK9->Injustice. MK9 was a bad game, I love it but LBSH: wonky hit/hurtboxes, p1 advantage, negative edge, anemic training mode, stilted animation, bad netcode, etc. When the new game came along it rectified nearly all the problems of MK9 so the community felt comfortable moving on.

Injustice->MKX. Injustice was riddled with problems: unblockable interactibles, bad walk speed, ridiculous ambigious crossups, shoddy anti-airs, etc. Unlike MK9->Injustice where MK9 was still getting buzz and entrants, Injustice was already declining way before MKX came out. The game felt sluggish and going from MKX->Injustice just emphasizes the problems Injustice has.

MKX->Next game. The only thing that would kill MKX to me is a return to a better neutral/footsie game and safe 50/50's being truly de-emphasized.
