Wait,explain now please.where are the safe 50/50?
Shaolin can make his 50/50 safe not plus but still not punishable and they still have to worry about armor counter poke if you have meter. Shaolin is solid idk about top 5 we will have to see but definitely top 10 maybe right under 5

This "Shaolin is top 5" talk sounds too premature. It's a very solid variation by all accounts, but top 5 might be pushing it.

Kung jin has whiffing issues that can kill him.

Saying anyone is top 5 is premature at this point. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the thread saying that, and that this entire thread is complete speculation, fluff, not to be taken seriously, that we are all probably going to be wrong, and that this is just a thread to make some guesses no matter how outlandish. I don't know why Kung Jin players are getting up in arms about this, you guys definitely climbing this patch.

D'Vorah is most likely better than Liu Kang now, that being said.

1. D'Vorah: Nothing but buffs for an already top 6 character.
2. Jax: A bit of damage scaling but that doesn't affect him too much and Wrestler got buffed.
3. Sub-Zero: No nerfs and the new breaker system acts as a buff for him.
4. Johnny Cage: No nerfs lmao
5. Toss up Between Liu Kang, Shinnok, Quan Chi, and Takeda.

New-Comers: Kano and F/T. F/T sounds broke as shit and Kano is now super solid in all variations, both of them could very well be in or right outside the top 7 discussion.
Isn't there a gap in Johnny's 114 now?

welcome to the ButtSlam
1) Tom Brady - our Lord and Saviour
2) Noobde - Worthy adversary
3) Pako Stevens - maybe nex time
4) Tyler Lansdown - top tier fisticuffs
5) Ferra / Torr - lol

Ps: whoever puts Tempest in a top 5 needs to open his eyes, there are already 6/7 characters better than him in the Beta.

I'm not being up in arms about it. I made an observation and gave my opinion on it. Nothing more.

And no, Kung Jin wasn't thought to be "S tier" at release. IIRC, people thought he was going to be shit and lame before the game came out, which turned out to be false.

Selective memory?

It's hard to be a revisionist when it's all still there in writing.

Here's the Kung Jin pre-release thread where Pig of the Hut and many others are saying he's top 5:

here is a few of threads within two weeks of release date, filled with KJ salt:

http://testyourmight.com/threads/kung-jin-vortex.50808/ <<< this ones my favourite, people complaining about how OP Ancestral is :D

lol, selective memory?

Go read this thread and tell me Kung Jin was received well.

http://testyourmight.com/threads/kombat-kast-recap-3-19-15-mileena-takeda-variations-and-more.48993/page-2

Want me to post a couple of excerpts too?

"LMAO THAT COPY PASTE GREEN ARROW. Wasted slot.

Also that staff better not mean Shinnok doesn't have his.

He also has Zatanna's Ring. What was the point of this character?"

"Kung Jin omg wow!!!

Already just join the line of Kobra Darrius and the others -.-"

Can't forget about this gem:

"Anybody else feel underwhelmed over Kung Jin? It may have been better to start off with him and conclude with Takeda. He seems kind of bland to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the character's inclusion despite having no desire to play him. An MK character wielding a bow is a great idea.

He seems to be a straight-edge monk, and as such his personality bored me. His bow-based variation was a near complete Green Arrow copy, except I don't think he can hold his arrows down anymore (God I hope not, anyway). The variation based around the Chakram was kind of a lame idea, and NOT because its quite similar to Zitanna's. It just doesn't seem befitting of the character, which I realize is incredibly stupid to say because we really don't know the character yet.

Besides that IDK, they seemed sort of bored when showing off what he could do. I felt like they were awfully "unhype" over him despite that he was a "surprise" today. He just looked stiff and lifeless compared to the rest of the amazing ensemble that comprises MKX."

That's just some of the many anti-Kung Jin posts in that thread.

That's fucking a month before the game was released when nobody had even played the characters yet LOL you really gonna take that as the communities response to a character while deliberately ignoring all the stuff from days before release / first couple weeks of release? I guess when you're that wrong you really gotta grasp at straws huh
