So...

Sun God is going to have an advancing 9F mid attack that is -2 on block that tick throws on block and hit into a 20% command throw.

I wonder whether he can tick throw from his 6F d+1 too.

This "new" mechanic must be a glitch. Nobody with extensive fighting game knowledge would implement such foolishness.
He can tick throw off of his d1, yeah.

Wait, are you meaning on hit? If so, I doubt it.

Normalize grab immunity.
How are you gonna punish him if b1~db2 connects on hit? You don't get to whiff punish squat with the change because it doesn't whiff on hit.
I meant that the difference between the beta and what we actually have is that you can punish if hits B1 and still cancels.

Where was this fear of eating B1 in to a full blown combo before? And if you block B1 he either does B14 which is easy to deal with or you armor/jump/backdash the command grab. Which means Kotal is losing however much whatever combo you choose does.

If you guess wrong and Kotal has level 3 then you eat 20% and he chucks you away.

So I ask again why all the fear? Sure this is a nice buff to Kotal and making his damage a bit more consistent but I don't get this "OH SHIT Kotal so powerful now." stuff. Maybe I read this thread wrong. But I just don't see this change as the one that pushes Kotal over the top. Heck pick grand master sub zero and go 1-0 against the Kotal lol.

I probably should have been a little more specific. I think it will be insane in the corner since level three puts them back in the corner. Outside of that, it probably won't be as fearsome.

So as it is now, if Kotal hits me with B1 and dials in SGC, the grab whiffs. My understanding of the beta is that no longer happens. Block or hit, grabs come out all the same.

The reason why this is a problem has to do with the fact that grabs are not only unbreakable damage, but they are hard knockdowns.

So say you're Kotal. After a grab, your oki meta would revolve around using a tick string into another grab. Say you use B1 for this. If you read armor on wake up, you block and full punish(usually into 40% or more with Sun God). The B122 and B14 both lead to grabs on hit in this version and blow up backdashing.

It's true, you could use armor or backdash. But it's still a very powerful option for grapplers.

Once they condition you with the fear of grab, they can now bait the armor, the backdashing, etc and punish those options.

This Just makes me not have to think "he is going to block my 12 so im going to do 12d3 grab". Ill just do it because it will connect on both hit/block. Some dumb shit right there.

This would be one of the most broken things in fighting game history. Only a true scrub would think this is ok
Thank God you replied before I do,they would have banned me.......

You're putting waaaaaaay too much thought into this. No rational person would ever get hit by b1/b14 on purpose to avoid the grab. Every good player I've ever played against would just jump over me , get a bigger combo and not take the damage from b1. The only reason why I would ever get b1 on hit and whiff db2 is because people didn't respect my 9 frame mid , not because they knew the grab was coming. If anything you now have to respect my b1 more. The counter play to the grab is still there , you can still buffer armour if you don't want to take the risk. You just don't get free combos for sucking at footsies.

You can combo from crouch attacks with ANY move in MKX, it'll strictly be standing strings on grounded opponents.

A lot of people seem to be acting as if there isn't a hard counter to tick throws or something. You can just jump over them, unless that's been changed or something and I haven't heard about it.

This definitely shouldn't be a serious problem for competent players now that we have a netcode that doesn't fuck your reaction times.

I'm having a lot of fun playing Sun God and find him pretty strong already. I'd rather want Sun God and Commando to be different from eachother than get the same treatment. Commando needs this change, I'm not sure Kotal does.

Ignorant slaves, how quickly you forget.
I'm still not entirely clear on this, what exactly ARE the new cmd grab mechanics?
For example, you do b14 db2 in sun god right? The command grab would whiff if you do it on hit right? But in the beta it actually combos on hit.I don't have the beta, but that's all i know. :D
Or you can check out ketchup and mustard's latest video on their youtube channel which explains all of the cmd grab mechanics (but with commando kano) and explains everything about thenew changes with kano but goes a lot more in depth in the cmd grab mechanics.

As a Sun God Main, this'll only add a little bit more to the mind games.
Kotal being able to combo from standing strings would probably get him around 25%, more or less.
It's a super buff for Kano, because he can do restand into doing a standing combo into command grab. Not so much for Kotal.
This command grab buff is not as bad as everyone thinks.
The buff will make it easier for new to Kotal players, just an afterthought for more experienced players; who could easily do 35-43% damage comboes.

If I'm not mistaken, KOF has command throws that combo.

I like the change in all honesty. It might not stay if it's too much, but the change is a fun one for grapplers. It does breathe new life into Commando and Brawler. And like @DelSchokoladenSaft said, Sun God probably won't benefit from this as much as we think, after putting some thought into it. I don't think Wrestler would either.

We'll see where it stands.

Yes. unfortunately it would make the game of other characters extremely strong.

besides Kotal , imagine Erron Black and the 21122 stuff

it cant be on the final version imho

Just jump he says... And what if he finishes the b1 string? Or it's Jason and he recovers so fast he can anti air you?

You must be a bad player who needs such brokenness to have a chance. Again. No intelligent fighting game player would ever think this is ok.

Jupiter is the best jax in the world and he was even laughing how stupid this was.
