Question - Kitana Why do I keep hearing Kitana is not that good?

I'm not a Kitana player, I'm mainly a GM player (and future Cryomancer after the patch), but since Kenshi is not a viable character, I was thinking about Kitana, since I like her zoning and her ability to reflects attacks also comes in handy.

Lately, and after the last patch, I have been reading in some TYM posts that like, GM, Kitana has serious issues in execution, and its fanbase is very vocal about those issues.
As I said, I'm not a Kitana player, so I don't know anything about this kombatant, if she's good or not or viable or not, could someone clarify the veracity of the previous sentence and explain me why people keep repeating it?

Kitana is a good character with the ability to zone out pretty much all the cast. She has good footsies and zoning but many (including myself) think the hot patch nerf to her damage was unnecessary. She is still a good character but you will need some pocket characters since her mix ups are horrible. I think you should pick her up because she has quite a few good match ups and she helps with learning fundamentals.

She is good. Sonicfox drove her to ESL final and won and also to the finals at evo. Not top tier, but who cares you can still win with her if you outplay your opponent.

Only true Kitana fans can look beyond the damage reduction. The ones complaining are basically people who picked her up after her success at majors. These guys want insane damage, overhead/low starters on top of an amazing zoning, space control kit.

The original damage nerf was too much but she was doing just STUPID damage before. Didnt they buff her damage output again with the hotfix?

Kitana is fine but I agree that the damage values got hit hard. I just cant take people seriously when they demand grounded 5050's when she has a good mixup game in the air.

Especially compared to a guy like Kenshi or Kano's Cybernetic - Kitana is looking very good. More damage, more options, more zoning. There's not really much to say. It was just odd they nerfed her damage harder than Predator's

Try out Mournful, very fun variation... has the normal low starter, some combos off of EXglave and has OH starter

JIPglaive or EXglaive to pop em up, can do this from mid screen to start combo. greatat zoning with Shadow kick to push back, and mid ground projectile, air [projectile is OH

To actually answer OP's question:
She has no serious issues in execution, her combos aren't even hard, just some minor run cancels. But, you must know how to do instant air fans if you intend to use her properly though - which may be her only "serious" issue in execution. Turn off input shortcuts, as it helps even though you'll grab a random interactible with the 21 string sometimes. Overall she's a good, very fair, character.

Cassie is beast, i use Brawler for OS, Johnny Stund double has some nice Frame traps, Kitana is fun in all of them, but id say i like assassin more than any due to Parry.

No they didn't buff her damage with the hotfix, her EX fan was doing double the damage scaling. Her damage went from like 46% to like 32% because of that

Nah, its apart of her game - its the people who constantly spam the shit, Dont know about you, regardless if its apart of the game or not, its no fun, and i play the game to have fun.. not to get spammed like a bitch.

Nah, majority of the time my lao claps cheeks. But its pretty constant on xbox live the kat players are nothing but fan throwers and know little about the char itself.
