How are you punishing slide? It seems safe to me lol.

Which pokes do you throw out that get whiff punished? When I play Edge, Dauntless is either using what i assume aer cr.L(simple kneeling punch) and cr.M (Dauntless lays on the ground and fully extends one arm) I think both of these lead to combos and I can't ever seem to lay a finger on her.

Once I do get in I try to make most of my time with pressure and the like but it's one hell of a time getting to that point which is my main problem.
I punish with cr.l > combo - there's no good tools in training mode so maybe they're not holding blocking but I do that and get a punish usually lol.

Both D's crouching light and medium both lead to full combos but if she whiffs it you need to punish it whilst she's recovering, you need to be just outside the range of her poke then when she whiffs it, punch in your input.

Does edge have an armoured move that you could use to get in easier?

The slide is +1
So I'm not actually punishing it but rather the person is doing nothing? Ugh, god damn it :/

How do you know the frame data? Where does it tell you?

Edit: Just found people on the Rising Thunder forum talking about it.

Normalize grab immunity.

No armored moves. I just try to be as tricky as possible with his dash special and try to stay on the ground. Sometimes I get ansty and fail at the grounded part . . . Still feels like an uphill battle. Oh and when I said worst matchup I didn't mean anything like 10-0 or 8-2, just that this is feels hard for edge to fight against. Could be I just gotta play really well.

Found out that you can't actually burst bait in this game. The burst doesn't get used if it you don't hit it . . . . Also screw safe FADCs.

Perhaps man, but I suppose it's hard to tell. Well, for me it is, since I can't play a good set with somebody I know in a private match.

I don't know what a burst bait is. Jabs are plus on block apparently, jeeze louise! :S

Yeah it would be easier to dissect matchups by having private matches. But that would probably have to wait until beta.

Usually in games with bursts the bursts have a hitbox and send you flying back on hit to give the defender some breathing space. To counter this players could do a combo and end it in a way to dodge the hitbox which is basically a free reset. In this game the bursts don't actually activate unless you touch them. Had an opponent use the burst (kinetic defend, the blue orb shield), I didn't hit them but then they proceed to use it again right away after I touched them. Stopped everything even a grab!

There are some too casual friendly things I personally don't like for this game. Especially since they won't be there in other games so new players would just be set back after relying on a system to help them.

Yeah I think Alpha is just so they can test the online, servers, netcode and all that stuff aswell as have people find bugs but mostly the online.

Huh, well that sounds pretty mental to me. The concept is new to me so I don't have the perception of how bizarre it is, and I won't untill I experience it.

It's a very beginner-friendly game but I think it's good if somebody is new to fighting games because they don't have to concentrate on mashing a DP out but can rather just focus on the mind games, links, footsies etc.

So is anyone else having a problem with matchmaking? I've won about 7 single games so far and haven't played the second match due to rage quit or it disconnecting.

There is a bug that should be out by next week. It could happen whether you win or lose so I wouldn't chalk it up to just RQ.

Alright well I hope they fix that soon because it's getting my salty even when I win, you hit that Start Ranked button and it's a guess on whether the match is even gonna start.
 
Really though why are safe DP dash cancels a thing? ugh.



The cast overall could probably do with some tweaks.

I play Edge, what exactly is giving you trouble?
fullscreen safe slide, hes wakeup ignoring fast 2 hit attack and Dp dash cancel making one of the 2 things i can punish safe.
 
Either people are rage quitting or the game just disconnect after the first match, either the match wont count :/
