General/Other - Kano KANO IS LIKE, BOTTOM ZERO GUYS

What do you all think of 2F4 being an HDK overhead? Imo the last hit looks like a legit overhead. It almost makes as much sense being a mid as Shinnok's S3 being mid (srsly lol). Commando Kano is also missing a B2 and F2, maybe one of those could be an overhead? It doesn't have to be a starter - I really don't want Kano being another stupid coin flip character.
2F4 being an overhead is my "If you must" option, for an overhead. It doesn't really change much in the grand scheme, but it'd shut up some of the people who think he absolutely needs it. Truth be told, they need to fix the 2, more than the F4. 2 whiffs a lot. I was shocked when it was going over TREMOR in my sets with a friend.

As for your other point, I think the way variations work(at least it looks this way by looking at Kano), is that you can't attach more than two attacks to a single input. You have standard B1, and Cutthroat B1 for example. As it stands, the only starters that don't have variation specials are 1, F1, 2, 3, F3, B3, 4, and F4. so if you were to give Commando a unique string, it'd probably replace F1

I honestly think it would make a really big difference, especially considering 2F4 is only 0 on block. It'd be such a good tool at conditioning your opponent to block high.

Unfortunately it would be a pretty reactible OH since it comes after the 2 so idk how much it would really condition a player who's paying attention. We could just break the character and try to make his F4 (The knee) an OH, THEN WE LIVIN' IN DA PROMISED LAND.

I am getting so tired of being in the lab with Commando Kano seeing what my enhanced command grab will whiff on. I swear this character just needs to have the bugs fixed that have been documented and he would be monstrous. Thats true across all of his variations too. What makes me even more frustrated is that the magnitude of stuff that needs to be addressed and tested to function as intended is unbelievable. I have been going through every single character's/variation's move set to see what and what does not react to the various parries. I started making videos of them but the amount of stuff to watch would be overwhelming and I'm not sure where I would post it. Where was NRS's QA team on this one?

*sigh* People need to stop with the overhead stuff. How does it look like "a legit overhead"? He sticks his foot out in their face, there's nothing overheady about it really. Commando Kano isn't "missing" a B2 or F2 either, just because the other variations have one of them doesn't mean Commando needs it. You shouldn't need a way to condition them to block high if you play the character correctly, his mixup isn't overhead or low. You want to condition the opponent to either block low or neutral crouch. If they block low you throw them, if they neutral crouch you full combo them with B3.

Seems like every long set I play I find a new "Throw invincible" special that somebody has. They are usually meter burned and multi hitting, but not always.

edit: this is in response to Gobei.

Why would anyone under any circumstance neutral crouch against somebody who is right in their face?

Also it makes Kano's 112 whiff as well as standing 2, Knives miss in Commando and CT too. There are actually several MU specifics reasons why you would neutral crouch against a kano.

edit: but I would say right now not a lot of people will be doing it. I kind of have abandoned using B3 mid screen unless I just do B31xxChoke midscreen. I still try it in the corner to keep them honest too.

The 2 is supposed to whiff when it does. I have never had Standing 2 whiff on anybody that wasn't neutral ducking. 112 is more iffy, but the first hit is a high then the other 2 are mids.

I had neutral 2 whiff on crouch blocks many times. Same with Choke. The only highs that hit on crouch block 100% of the time seem to be laser and 4

Strange, maybe it's only on the super small hitbox characters? otherwise I would just believe that commando has more hitbox issues then just his command grabs.

Stop crying about kano he's fine... Nobody think kitana can win evo, and a good player can do that. U have to study more ur character guys :)
Kitana didn't win EVO.

She LOST to Lao and Fox switched to Erron Black.

Calthrops won EVO.

The issue for me is consistency across all of my hard read moves (ie: parries, mb c.grabs). If you eat a hit of my armour and my hands are already past your neck you should probably have been thrown and looking for a doctor to help repair ribs. Or if I can anticipate the bf2 wake up by Liu Kang with a high parry, I should be golden every time (that move cant be parried). I don't think its reasonable to have to drill a character specific delay for every move. With a character like Kano, if I commit to anything (c.grab, cutthroat b1, cyber up lazer) I should feel as though it is deliberate and consistent.

This is where I kind of am at a loss. Do you increase active frames? Do you make the hitboxes bigger?

alas, back to the lab...

Lol still with the complaining when some of you don't even main the character any more, meanwhile people like Showtime are actually putting in work and doing well instead.
Define, "doing well."

Top 8?

Because a guy playing Quan Chi, a character with far better zoning even in Sorcerer made top 8. Is that not, "doing well?"

Please tell me the standard you judge by.

Because by anyone else's, Cyber Kano's placement at EVO isn't good enough.

Oh yea man. I remember wreckingggg Red in a T5 DR tournament and his pride was so hurt that he ran to TekkenZaibatsu forum and started saying how Wang was OP (wasn't even my main it was a MU switch because I wasn't comfortable using Bryan against Lei) and how noobs can pick him up and place at high tourneys within days. Then since it was "him" some people started trying to say Wang was OP and people hadn't realized it yet. That he was secret top tier, etc. Wang. Really? Lol! Instead of giving me props for tearing him up he was too ashamed and blamed the character, to his friends and then on the forum.

That was 10 years ago lol. Nothing has changed man. Nothing has changed.
Look, i know absolutely nothing about Tekken.

From what little i have seen, there are no projectiles.

What does zoning look like in Tekken?

:-p

Do Commando's grabs whiff on a neutral croucher?
Nope, they're legit command grabs.

Why does a character have to place top 8 to be doing well? Raiden didn't make top 8, neither did Cassie, neither did Jin or Jax. Are they not good enough? Does not placing top 8 at that one tournament on that one day out of all tournaments on all days make them bad? No, that's down to the player, and the players of those characters didn't happen to outplay their opponents that day. Kano got top 32, which at a 1000 man tournament I'd say is fine.

Cassie, Raiden and others have made top 8 at a very consistent basis before hand.

How many top 8s has Cyber Kano made since the game's launch?

If you compete at a tournament, do you enter thinking, "Boy, i sure hope i get top 32!"

Think back to MK9's EVO appearances.

You can easily remember who won or placed 2nd, or some of the top 8 players.

Can you tell me who placed top 32 at any of them?

Was the pot split for top 32?

How much does ESL award for top 32?

Or MLG?

EVO?

Am i making my point clear?
