this forum always has people say it's a "blowup" when this sort of thing happens, but it's an inevitable fact of life in double-elimination tournaments. if you have an odd number of top players, there's no way around unbalanced pools.

obligatory reminder that double-elim is only accurate for top 2, not top 8~

I think its actually pretty smart considering challonge requires the internet and god knows how many times the internet at majors has crashed lol.

it actually made sense even just a few years ago when you were dependent on the venue internet for a challonge bracket...but in the era of smartphones i don't get it
