You must have missed the final scene, as it shows a revenant Raiden throwing Shinnok's head on the floor in front of him, to show the other remaining revenants.
Damnit. You're right. I forgot that my question got answered after the credits, haha. My bad. I was too excited about Raiden being a total badass.

Story was good to me, it seems like they really wanted to set up the storylines of the new/younger characters, which was expected. But I was really expecting Liu Kang, Kitana, Kung Lao, etc. to be brought back to the land of living. They didn't really explain how Jax was brought back to life but no one else wasn't.

Speaking of the story, has anyone managed ti unlock the Dark Emperor and Empress for Liu Kang, and Kitana?

Got Dark Empress randomly after beating one of the daily towers. Got Kahnum Mileena after beating like 20 opponents in the endless tower. Dark Emperor Liu Kang, the rest of the Revenents and Hotshot Johnny eludes me still.

Cliche after cliche, was like watching a terrible action flick. Typical "one guy attacks protagonist at a time" cliche, typical "bad guy seconds away from killing a main character only to be surprise stopped by somebody off screen" cliche. Now having said that I enjoyed it for the most part, I don't really give two shits about the story, so it's good the rest of the game is awesome!

Hey, the Dark Raiden after the credits it's not a revenant.

I think he got tainted by Shinnok's magic when Cassie and Kun put him in the Jinsei. Does this rings a bell? Yeah! In MK Deception, Raiden was reborn as Dark Raiden after he was tainted by Onaga's influence when he tried to kill him.

I love how this new storyline still has some parallelisms with the old one.

I was actually rather surprised that they finished what MK9 started by killing off the rest of the prime mover villains. We don't have any sorcerers or necromancers or anything running around causing problems. Mileena was finally given a true villain role and executed pretty much immediately. Baraka was justifiably butchered. Curiously that leaves us with a lack of cartoon-style over the top bad guys, which hopefully means we'll eventually get a more nuanced MK story in the future.

Subtly dropping one of Kung-Jin's reasons for being insecure was priceless. I never really expected NRS to go there. They played up him being a thief before launch, but the only thing he confirmed trying to steal was something that once belonged to his family, which is.. different than what they let on too.

Dark Raiden, it seems, was inevitable but this time it really felt justified in a way it never was in Deception. (Or at least, done without much build up, or too much build up? Whatever)

The storymode in general gave me the impression that the Outworld Civil War was written and planned first, then they tacked on Shinnok's role later. As a Rain fan I felt like they really did have plans to make him playable but dropped him probably for Goro or Reptile. Because why not?

Fujin was the worst cock-tease I've ever seen. It's one thing to have a character show up and mess around.. like Frost, or Bo, or Sareena even. It's another thing entirely to give them a bad-ass fighting cutscene with an interesting voice actor, new weapon, and then just drop him off the face of the story. Again feels like there was another version of MKX we aren't getting to see.

The game however is Solid. Dark Empire Liutana looks epic.

Please, please do a UMKX and extend the story, bring in another row of characters.

One thing that struck me as bizzare -- When Raiden was describing the 'snare' that Kano (how was Kano involved if Rain took the talisman????) left for him, that kept him busy during most of the story, he started saying that 'he visited a lot of strange realms' ... etc, etc, is that some kind of cross-over or side-game set up? Why? --- Please don't tell me it's just an excuse for fucking Tron-Raiden outfit too, because that's just stupid.

lmao what happened with Fujin? when Shinnok and his revenants showed up at the Sky Temple (and they killed Bo zomg), I was expecting Fujin to appear and kick some asses.

And what about Reiko? and those "Reiko Accords"? Seems like we miss a big chunk of the story.

Plus on block.
The only thing I had a problem with, and to me it's a big problem, were the revenants staying revenants.

Betrayal of expectations. I think Kung Lao at least should have made it back, bad ass Kung Fu master was too good of a trope to just throw away for a goon spot.

I really don't think the whole revenant arch deserves to span three games.

Bo Rai Cho didn't die, did he? I can't remember what Shinnok said, but I thought he said something implying Bo Rai Cho was still alive. Got to check that out again later. Regarding the Reiko Accords, I got a bad feeling he'll be the comic's "final boss" and dies.
I was glad we got the option to spare Baraka.

Felt like killing him was needless, especially in such a stupid manner.
Oh you can spare him? Cool. Wish we could spare Mileena and Quan Chi though...

Scorpion really pissed me off. He is always opening a can of worms. He isn't even trying to be evil, he is just selfish. He has too much tunnel vision and he has a very narrow perspective. I know he lost his clan and stuff but at least give him some form of compassion. He was very good at the comics and now we got this!

i thought it was super duper lame and boring

i didn't feel any connection to any of the new characters, the whole thing felt rushed and very predictable

I was told via hearsay that if you beat the story mode on 'very hard', there is a different unlockable character you get access to besides Shinnok. Well, I just beat it on 'very hard' and....nope. Still Shinnok. What a waste of time.

i can't help but be a bit annoyed about characters like Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Kitana. They did NOTHING in the story except be dead alongside characters like Smoke, Kabal and Nightwolf. They didn't even come back to life. Yet they were given character slots anyway.

I'm not big into Rain or any thing, but I bet the Rain community is pissed off right now. He was more involved in the story than half the roster.
Yeah this is extremely confusing. Rain has a redesign, a cool voice, his own agenda, and a character model yet he's not a playable character and they've basically confirmed that he won't be DLC. I'm not a fan either but that's insane.

EDIT: Also, that was a huge "Fuck you" to Sektor fans. He's been my favorite since MK3, mained him in MK9, and he gets killed off-screen even after he survived MK9 and was left in a huge position of power. He could at least have been a flashback fight.

Story wasn't as good as MK9. They spent too much time on choreographed fight scenes than on setting up the next scene/backstory/everything, and as a result the pace felt rushed with little connection to the characters. Should have spent more time on dialogue and exposition and less on QTEs.

So at the end it was Kitana, Liu Kang, Sindel, Smoke, and Kung Fucking Lao... and they were held off by a WOUNDED and bleeding out Takeda and Jaqui... Had me rolling that the blasian master race will come... soon.

dunno....remember that one scene where all the revents were beating the crap outta raiden and then all started kicking him on the ground while he was down?

also, those of you who complain about cassie being able to beat shinnok....did you not see that she was clearly tapping into her hidden power?

The story was great. I hated the inconsistencies in power levels, and hated Kotal Kahn's reasoning for his actions in chapter 11, but I digress. Oh and Sub Zero should have gotten a better chapter. Chapter 3 was pretty much filler.

I got over my initial disappointment of Shinnok being end game pretty quickly, and now I'm pretty much fine with it.

Cinematically and choreography wise, MKX >>>>> both Injustice and MK9. In terms of overall narrative, MK9 > MKX > Injustice for me.
