Fire Fists damage buff still sounds crazy good to me. He's fast and he's probably going to be a 50/50 mix-up machine, so a solid damage buff on top of that is nasty

More importantly it will buff his projectiles as well. This forces your opponent to come into your buffed pressure. I will be looking into that variation the most... plus it has a parry, which I suspect will be huge in MKX.

@SaltShaker Yep... it is pretty much official that Loo Kizzle will be my first MKX character. The crazy good teleporters/anti zoners have me worried and Liu Kang appears to have an an answer for them as well as a strong zoning game...

Couldn't agree more. He has hella zoning, his dark matter is pretty much MMH's orb space control, faster normals with OH/lows, etc etc. I mean DAMN!! I can't just take Liu from my friend either, he used him all MK9 along with Sonya so there's no way I could step in and take him now.

Because the #1 person I've been playing the last 4 years in MK and Injustice is a diehard Liu Kang for life main. I hate mirrors and we play each other a Bazilion hours so we never main the same character. -.-

I have to say that over mk's life I've never been too excited about this character. Yes he's been fun but stuff like the bicycle kick and his constant screaming always turned me off about him. That being said, after yesterday I am overly hype for this character. His design became super cool and I like how they changed his looks, from the darker clothing colors to the face tattoos. I think he will definitely be one of my 3 that I plan on maining. He seemed to have solid zoning, footsies, and mixups this time I used to play SZ in mk9 and his dark matter orb is almost like an ice clone in the corner. All 3 of liu's variations look really solid and fun.

Me too. I feel I play at my worst in mirrors because I hate them so much.

Liu Kang was the first character I saw that made me go "wow" other than the potential of MoS Ermac with my playstyle, so I'm beyond salty about it. Plus I have to hear this guy talk every day until release about how great his character will be. Meanwhile, I'm still not fully sold on anyone.

It's fate though. It's my destiny to main Kenshi and Jacqui anyway, so the Elder Gods holds them off for last so I don't get any desire to switch characters.

Why did they give liu Kang such a bad ass bruce lee stance in character select screen, then give him a half ass one during the match?

Preach, i'm a fan of Liu Kang and liked everything about him execpt his stance, it's really generic not to say akward, don't know why they took away his Jet Kune Do stance.

No they didfor dragon fire and it popped the opponent up for a followup but I think thats variation specific.

LK and Reptile are going to be beasts in this game. I think Kung Jin is going to turn out a lot better than people realise.

One thing I'm curious about that if anyone can elaborate perhaps on, I know Paulo showed off in the stream but If you pause it at 44:47 you'll notice the if you want to see for yourself, I took a pic of it notice both dark and light metamorphosis are both down, down square? In his Dualist variation.


Does this mean we have to switch between them meaning everytime we detonate it it'll just switch back and forth? I wish there was a different imput method like say Quan Chi's spells with different buttons ie Down, Down square for one spell, Down, down, triangle another etc

I think he's going to be incredibly annoying from a far, those arrows have so many options...buffing damage, stealing super meter away and stunning? lol Just imagine a smart player utilizing all of those and mixing it up. Combined with good zoning in his ancestral lol. I can't wait to use him besides Ermac.

Since the guy on the Kast did such a shit job, there's some confusion, so let's figure some things out:


Dualist: Zoner?, mainly with the black fire bombs, because the Flame Fist's fire clearly looks faster than the white fire, depending on the speed of the charging and bomb times, right now, this one looks like a meh Zoner style. The healing is only useful depending on if you can hold black fire bombs on the field while in light mode, it doesn't heal much, but there could be an enhanced version.

Flame Fist: High pressure game backed by windmill punch and a damage booster for attacks, with a parry to boot, this fire again is faster, it has faster start-up and end frames clearly, so I'm not sure what they're talking about. This variant is gonna be a noobs favorite due to the rapid hits and chip damage, if Dual truly has a faster flame, then this is my least favorite.

Dragon's Fire: Combo-Maker and High Damage, at first, everybody sees this as a basic return to mk9 Liu Kang, but the fireball cancel will allow for extended juggles, resets and mix-ups and when combined with the Bicycle Kick, which now leaves you standing, Dragon's Fire will allow for total destruction if used right, and the new backfist which is safe(but not punishable.....) is a nice added trap.


upon thinking about it, I'm going with Dragon's Fire over Flame Fist, Dualist seems to have been explained wrong, so I need help there.

Dualist will be best with zoning, using white fire (which is not as slow as you make it seem lol) to zone and if you feel like they will run in or if they are threatening to get close, dark fire and pause close to you. Not to mention you can heal, too, if you are playing against another zoner and have enough time on knockdown. Any amount of healing...whether it small or large...is still healing that the opponent isn't getting. Imagine someone shooting the white fire all over the place and right when you get hit, they heal for a second. Even one second, if done several times, can make Dualist hard to deal with.

The damage for Flame Fists will make this many rushdown players' back up (whether they like Liu Kang or not). He's just too fast! He has the quickest movement I've noticed in the game thus far along with the comboing and chip damage...Flame Fists LK will be hard as fuck to deal with. He can get in on you easily unless you have hella zoning options (KJ's arrows, Shinnok's Grab, Erron's walk back shooting).

Dragon's Fire seems like the best overall if you want really good options in both rush down and zoning. And the fact Bicycle kick leaves opponent in stun opposed to knockdown leaves for some hella 50/50 options.

I think any of these will be dope.

MKX is the game of the Shaolin. Kung Jin, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang all look amazing.

Wait a minute... Is his X-Ray a counter like Johnny in MK9? If you look, he does it before he gets hit and flashes white. Then after he gets hit he flashes yellow, then punches them... Or it could just be armor. But I'm not super familiar with how that looks in MKX; so I was just guessing.

Anyway, something I noticed for the first time: When doing a combo, the total hits and total damage thing appears on the side and build up with each hit. In MK9, you had to wait after you do a combo for the total hits and damage to appear. So in MKX you can see it build up as you go, which I think it pretty cool. Especially when you are doing an X-ray; you can just sit back at watch everything go up.

yeah so after watching it a few more times, seems like the DD same button activates it and switches between the two. My guess based off the vid, sometimes they're a little vague with these things lol and Paulo kind of whispers lol so it's hard to hear him.
