Riu 48 as the absolute most consistent top placing sonya player including 2 mlg top 8's I believe. And top 8 in almost every FGC major as well he attended. No other sonya player has that record. You can't just show up to one major tournament and be called the best. It's about being consistent.Mygod got 3rd place at EVO... that is more impressing than anything Riu has done. He also knocked out greats and was the GGA killer at EVO.
BoomI am just going to leave this quote here from Riu when this discussion came up in in dec 2012. With few exceptions, most of this is still applicable today.
EVO isn't just another tournament. It's the only tournament that matters... and history has shown Riu has not proven himself there.Riu 48 as the absolute most consistent top placing sonya player including 2 mlg top 8's I believe. First off he didn't win evo. and to say other tournaments doesn't matter is just ridiculous. Why even have them. Anything can happen in one tournament and yes he played fantastic that evo and he deserves props. But his resume is nothing like Riu 48's.EVO isn't just another tournament. It's the only tournament that matters... and history has shown Riu has not proven himself there.
Winning one evo is like winning 10 other tournaments. I can't believe some players still write it off as just another tournament when they have no idea how big evo really is.
*Slowly steps away from the thread, counts to 10, goes to get a hot pocket and watch NLBC*It's the only tournament that matters...

Those are locals. We are talking about tournament record since 2011 at Majors, MLG and EVO. Overall RIU has the best record by far even though he never attended evo.mygod
its not just Evo people open your eyes to all the texas tournaments hes been to
just cause someone has more things in life to do then travel doesnt mean they can't prove to be the best. Those are locals. We are talking about tournament record since 2011 at Majors, MLG and EVO. Overall RIU has the best record by far even though he never attended evo.
Exactly. Otherwise what's the point of traveling and competing at the highest level if someone else can just say... yeah I'm the best.If traveling to prove you can be a consistent top player isn't possible or isn't a priority in your life then you can't get the props. That's not our problem. I hate that argument. It's frustrating for those of us who did make it a priority to go out there doing this time and time again. Even though I hold EVO in high regard consistency matters.
taking care of your children should always come before traveling.
Riu went to like 4 tournies total because he works more than 95% of the people in this community. Mygod's tourney record is 3rd EVO 17th MLG Dallas. Riu's is top 8 NEC 2011, NEC 2012, MLG Columbus and 9th at MLG Anaheim (MLG paid for Columbus' top 8 to go to Anaheim).just cause someone has more things in life to do then travel doesnt mean they can't prove to be the best.
No one is saying it shouldn't. We are just saying in order to be proclaimed the best you have to be consistent for a long period of time against top competition. If raising your kids is stopping you from doing that than you are being the best parent, but cant be regarded as the best video game player!taking care of your children should always come before traveling.
dont forget about Winter brawl, and other majors as well.Riu went to like 4 tournies total because he works more than 95% of the people in this community. Mygod's tourney record is 3rd EVO 17th MLG Dallas. Riu's is top 8 NEC 2011, NEC 2012, MLG Columbus and 9th at MLG Anaheim (MLG paid for Columbus' top 8 to go to Anaheim).
if someone only has the time to go to one major a year and they make it the biggest one of the whole year and make noise like that they deserve the props.
Aside from everything.. Riu48 beating pig twice in tournament is pretty insane lol
Its on stream I think for team spooky?Or kombatnetwork Idk lolIs there a Youtube of this?
(Also, it's past your bedtime)
I find it weird in a match that you played solidly is used as a negative because you lost a close match but elevate Showtime because he won the close match where he played solidly.
It's not being pushed to the side, you both took Tyrant to the last match and you both were a round away from winning. I don't get why you feel that because Showtime pulled out the win against Tyrant and you didn't (again, both extremely close and competitive matches) that he should automatically be above you.
Then why, whenever you go to tournaments, do people say that you are arguably, one of, or THE best Sonya? You're going off nothing but tournament placement and performance and, that being the case, then no, you don't have the best. I'm going by everything I've seen you do with Sonya compared to everything I've seen others do with Sonya.
Probably because tournament participation for MK9 suffered greatly after the release of Injustice, but only CrimsonShadow can answer that.why does this say "had"
