Now that F23 has been normalized, Superman players need to look for other options to sustain pressure. Trait cancels are great, but higher level players are patient, and will simply wait until a string is cancelled into breath and then begin their own pressure.
Nearly everyone knows Superman's corner OTG setup (most often done at the end of a BNB with scoop 3xxtrait IAGS) which can either cross up or not depending on how quickly you do the IAGS. However, what seems to be going largely overlooked by most Superman players is the utility of OTG resets MIDSCREEN. There have been scattered posts of d2 , f2d13 , b3j3, and b3f3 IAGS setups. What I think the Superman community hasn't realized however is that some of these setups are anti tech-roll, anti-wakeup, AND ambiguous. By ambiguous, I mean the IAGS will land on the opposite side of the opponent, allowing for a full combo, however the opponent may have to block either cross-up or non-crossup depending on the setup. Essentially, Superman can modify the end of all of his combos to set up for an IAGS reset. Even when blocked, the IAGS is extremely hard to punish due to the range it leaves you at when blocked, AND it leaves you in a floating state which significantly decreases the damage output of most punishes.
What the Superman community needs to do is hit the lab and compile a list of IAGS reset setups, and how to modify these setups to make the IAGS either crossup or not crossup.
For example: F23 F2xxMBbreath B3 J3 > IAGS has the potential to crossup or not crossup depending on the timing of the J3 and where it hits.
Does anybody know the difference in the timing that makes an IAGS crossup/noncrossup for the d2, f2d13, b3j3, and b3f3 setups?
