It is better this way
Also I updated the OP
I agree about Ermac. I think we get murdered by Mystic, but MOS isn't that bad. Changed Demolition Sonya to 3-7, that MU is retarded. With Tempest, you can't just mindlessly string into Klone, but it is pretty easy to avoid him midscreen, now you can just backdash after EX hat, so his pressure isn't nearly as intimidating, and the J2 nerfs as well help everyone against Lao.I'm trying to figure out Ermac match ups.
We've got quite a few really good Ermacs here in Oz. Mystic and Master of Souls versus highly experienced players are damn hard but I believe they can be beaten with smart play where it should be 4-6...maybe even 5-5 for really really good Grandmasters but that might be stretching it.
He is one of the hardest male match ups for sure but at least Not as hard as Dvorah, Demolition Sonya or Piercing Mileena. Just got to keep labbing stufff and getting more match ups to figure it out.
I haven't seen much match up info VS him so I'm going to try to explore and contribute what I can here but if anyone has any tips or info on the match up be great to hear your thoughts.
I haven't played many if any Spectrals yet but I'd imagine there will be some common strategies.
Tempest Kung Lao is also giving me trouble which I'm going to explore in detail as well down the track but one match-up at at a time.
im not a main of either of them any more, but any perceived advantage in the neutral is a mistake. 7-3 was far too slanted for a character that will likely lose the game if he gets knocked down near the cornerI'm not a Predator main. What would that prove? I changed it back to 4-6 because Predator is Deadator in the corner. Predator easily has the advantage in the neutral which is why he wins.
Yeah. Stunt Double can call mimics on reaction to a clone coming out, which makes clone useless.grandmaster losing to cage?
Predator isn't dead "near the corner". If sub tries to pop a clone after a slide, he will eat a d4 into cancel pressure, and Predator is out of Jail. And if he blocks a B2 through the Klone, he can d4 and escape the corner. Predator actually has above average meterless options to escape the corner. If sub wants to keep Predator there safely, he has to do close clone, and mix between B33 and throw, and sacrifice the chance to shatter. Don't look at it as "oh wow he only gets a D4", it's about getting out of the corner which he can definitely do. I agree that 7-3 is too harsh so I changed it to 6-4. Not only sub players think this, Predator players do too.im not a main of either of them any more, but any perceived advantage in the neutral is a mistake. 7-3 was far too slanted for a character that will likely lose the game if he gets knocked down near the corner
He can punish clone on reaction?Yeah. Stunt Double can call mimics on reaction to a clone coming out, which makes clone useless.
Can can call mimics on reaction. Clone has like 118 recovery if I remember correctly. This matchup goes one of two ways:He can punish clone on reaction?
isn't it a risk for cage to throw shadow kicks because of iceball trades? Also is EX ice clone of no use to try and punish mimic calls? Can can call mimics on reaction. Clone has like 118 recovery if I remember correctly. This matchup goes one of two ways:
1. Sub puts down a clone, Cage calls mimics, ggs clone, it's useless now, so he will send it through, be plus a trillion, and go into a little pressure.
2. Sub says screw it I can't put a clone because he can just call mimics if I do, so I'll try to play footsies with Cage, where Sub is just outgunned without the clone.
So I think it is slight adv Cage.
It could be, but you have no reliable meter building source against Cage. The shadow kick is much much faster than the ice ball and have better recovery so trades aren't really too scary. Sub has options which is why it's only 4-6 imo.isn't it a risk for cage to throw shadow kicks because of iceball trades? Also is EX ice clone of no use to try and punish mimic calls?
No because a Cage specialist would always choose Stunt Double. The point of variations is for you to pick the best variation for a certain character or situation, and A-List and Fisticuffs give Cage no value versus Grandmaster.so if Sub loses to SD but wins versus A-list and Fistcuffs, shoudn't it be a even match-up overall?
Why would you say that?I do agree mostly about your match-ups. However I would say that Kano beats Sub-Zero 6:4 easily
Most just don't play SD. I'm obviously not taking a shot at anyone, it's just my opinion.
Yeah I know. Cage and Takeda are some of the characters I'm happy that people only choose one of their variations or it would be OD.Most just don't play SD. I'm obviously not taking a shot at anyone, it's just my opinion.
You should rmr that wit Scorpion in general he has unsafe specials so u can always bait out the teleport and full combo punish him. And with his fbrc cancels u should pay attention to his stamina meter as he can't keep doing it forever and then try to catch any patterns he might try to do once his stamina bar is out as he can only do 3 fbrc's for pressure. When u hv him in the corner Scorpion doesn't hv safe options getting out so u can bait it and he has to respect ur pressure in the corner and try to keep a fair distance as Scorp can't d4 u or he will be frozen by the clone so that's another thing to keep in mind. What's the general consensus on Hellfire Scorpion?
He is proving to be really hard at the moment when played by a Good player. I've gotten better with Inferno at least and Ninjutsu I can at least be still and bait him where the match can go eitherway but Hellfire I have to constantly be on the move adapting to his pace.
I played a really good and very aggressive Hellfire last night, I can't clone, can't approach from the air so I stayed grounded as much as I could and he more or less jailed me to the point I could only punish a teleport or spear, then when I cornered him I couldn't even do Shatters on him as he kept escaping via teleport. Couldn't even take a round. Lost 11-0.
Granted, he was at a higher level than me but that's no excuse really, I should have done better. I'm working hard to Hold my Own where It made me realize how much I still have to work on to match that level of play and made me even hungrier to get stronger.
Any tips for dealing with Hellfire?
Yeah but b12 is slow if u need to react fast like for jax b2 or something that is punishable but with fast normals11 Ice Ball usually but I need to use B12 Ice Ball more if out of the 11 Range plus Damage is better. I'll use B12 Ice Ball for a JIP Projectile Punish though.
Gracias, i dont know why but when i need to punish i panic and do 12, f4 is good too i thinkYup, pretty much.
11 Ice Ball seems to be Best Universally as a Punish but I've seen some Higher Level players punish with B12 Ice Ball with some things too. It's all expirementing which works when but 11 Ice Ball is my preference.
B12 should be your normal punish, unless the punish window is really awkward or small. For some moves, like Bujitsu EX Bo Swing, F4 ice ball is your best (or only) option.Yup, pretty much.
