Fighting games are based on matchups. You can have amazing tools but if you can't implement those tools in a real match, then they're not so amazing. I do think Kano's tools are quite good and can be put to use in many matchups. HT Jacqui, for example, is a character that looks good on paper but it doesn't pan out in a real match.Fighting games aren't like sports. You can't be better on paper than you are in game, the tools are the tools.
I'd disagree that HT Jacqui looks good on paper. Everyone says so because of the situational jailing pressure she has in the corner. Aside from that, she doesn't have anything beside damage (so does slasher Jason) that would make her a good character. For every pro there's a con cancelling it out.Fighting games are based on matchups. You can have amazing tools but if you can't implement those tools in a real match, then they're not so amazing. Horrible analogy. Many sports teams are better on paper than what they play like when the game starts.Fighting games aren't like sports. You can't be better on paper than you are in game, the tools are the tools.
i like how you are speaking for more than half of the community. The main reason you don´t see any kanos in tournaments => 90% of the MK community hate the character.
pretty sure that's exactly what he was saying, wasn't he?Horrible analogy. Many sports teams are better on paper than what they play like when the game starts.
"You can't be better on paper than you are in game, the tools are the tools."pretty sure that's exactly what he was saying, wasn't he?
But he's saying fighting games aren't like sports. As in he's saying that can be the case with sports, but it's not true for fighting games."You can't be better on paper than you are in game, the tools are the tools."
Some teams look godlike on paper and don't even make the playoffs. Others look like pure bums like the Redskins but go 9-7 and make the playoffs. Horrible sports comparison.
I'm definitely reading that wrong then lol.But he's saying fighting games aren't like sports. As in he's saying that can be the case with sports, but it's not true for fighting games.
[citation needed]Fighting games aren't like sports. You can't be better on paper than you are in game, the tools are the tools.
You can make HT Jacqui sound real good on paper: safe 50/50's, jailing run cancels, plus frames everywhere, high corner damage, OTG's, high chip damage setups, frame traps that loop, etc... It's all about context.I'd disagree that HT Jacqui looks good on paper. Everyone says so because of the situational jailing pressure she has in the corner. Aside from that, she doesn't have anything beside damage (so does slasher Jason) that would make her a good character. For every pro there's a con cancelling it out.
Not so much for Kano though, he's solid all around. I believe he's a balanced character in a game full of cheap MFs.
