Most Displacer users tend to waste lots of meter on Sparkport "pressure" which doesn't pan out to anything. Against anyone who knows the Displacer matchup, wasting a bar of meter for a guaranteed poke is silly. Wasting 2 bars of meter for this sparkport pressure is sillier unless it results in ending a game with chip. This tech that was posted by folks without any mention of when it's useful is why I see many guys use Displacer sub-optimally and have no idea about meter management.
1) Sparkport's primary use is to a) get out of messy corner situations with far sparkport. Grandmaster, for instance, is a Grandzero against Displacer. Quanchi, Tremor, etc (list is long) all of their corner lockdown attempts are useless against sparkport. b) Sparkport out of opponent string gaps for a 32% meterless midscreen or more if corner can be reached. Meter should be specifically saved for this so most players are scared to throw out any pressure strings or plus strings with gaps. They cannot get away with it against Displacer.
2) Sparkport's secondary use is for connects in combos on his strings that are not hit confirmable and requires a commital. Example: B2 made safe with sparkport (but hit) into f12b2 etc, b11 sparkport into 34 etc, sparkport into gauranteed throws etc
2) Displacer can reset the neutral by a cancel into meterless far teleport if opponent blocks any of his strings and stay safe. A regular teleport is good enough in most instances to kill any of your opponent's zoning capabilities. His bar is otherwise better spent for a midscreen 1 bar 41% off F1 6 frame punish, 1 bar 38% off B3 low, 1 bar 42% off B2 overhead, 1 bar 36% off b1, etc. At the corner, VB cancels rack up the big damage without even much need for meter. Or, with 1 bar, its a easy 48%. Use his 50/50s.
He is technically a 2 touch death character if you use his meter wisely. So, use your meter wisely
