Found this weird bug:

I am pretty certain of what's going on, hitting Goro out of his multi armor before the second hit of the armor activates. What's weird though is that the 11 doesn't combo or anything like that. Kinda niche but still seems like a bug

It's negating the armor because he's dying of just health loss alone

In general does Goro possess the tools to combat HQT Predator? Or is the match up too lopsided to work in Goro's favor?

All variations of Goro lose badly to HQT Predator, imo its one of his worst MU's alongside A-List JC. HQT Pred excells at keeping Goro out, has better spacing and footsies than him, except up close, and in general, controls the entirety of the screen a hell lot better than Goro.

Only reason this MU is not above 7-3 Predator, is because Predator is completely free once he gets knocked down.

I completely agree with this,

Just out of curiosity what is everyone's thoughts on Goro vs Cybernetic or Goro vs Cutthroat?

I feel they are both 3-7s but Cutthroat being easier to deal with.

Cybernetic being able to blow up MB PW is huge. That match up sucks for so many reasons.

I feel Goro is losing against CT Kano for two reasons alone:

1) Safe 50/50's which lead to insane damage.

2) His mobility and footsies in general are godlike.

Regarding Cyber Kano, i really dont feel he is as intimidating as CT or even Commando Kano are.

Imo, Goro's worst variation MU against Kano, is probably against CT, for the reasons i posted above.

Two questions for my fellow goro boyz
Do you find it reliable to try and confirm b12 into b12u2 on hit and b121 on block? I've been working on it and it's kind of difficult, but that might just be my bad reactions. I input b12u and then wait to see if they blocked it before I press 1 or 2.
Second, how do you deal with characters that play keepaway, jumping back and trying to outspace goro? I don't exactly mean projectile zoners, but characters who want to walk back and keep you scared of approaching like cassie or Raiden. I find myself chasing people down and making bad decisions.

Should Goro be top 5?

I think it's possible but I'm not quick enough to do it consistently; If I land a jump in punch I can no problem. It's very hard to actually land a raw B1 against a good player during the neutral game. It also does not really have much mix-up potential afterwards. For that reason I often assume that B1 is going to be blocked and take the chip from B121 or maybe B12/Punchwalk, hit-confirming (EX)Punchwalk instead.

There are Multiple ways for Goro to move forward. His Forward step is actually very good now and allows him to block as fast as possible. His Forward dash is also pretty solid but blocking afterward is more difficult and of course takes more time. Instantly running will cover ground and Goro can block quickly. Forward dash canceled into a run is the fastest way of moving Goro forward. Jumping forward is not ideal unless you are dodging a projectile in the process. Many of Goro's normal attacks have forward movement while also having an active hitbox during that movement. Punchwalk is a great option since it can be armoured and is safe on block but you need to be within range of your foe to even consider it. Stomp is also an option but it has roughly a 1/3 chance, 1/2 if they are cornered, of hitting unless they're in recovery frames. Finally, variation specifics such as Chest Lunge, Fang Spin, and Piercing Fang are all very viable.

In regards to fighting keep-away, Goro's biggest problem is the fact he's the tallest character in the game which means he is easier hit by both grounded and airborne foes. He is also lacking a powerful anti-air attack which only compounds the issue. To top it off he has no standing reset and or vortex which confines him to knockdown pressure in a game where you can tech-roll, use armored wake-ups such as backdash, and or delay when you wake-up entirely.

Is there a time or a combo where Goro can use his stomp safely? Like after a certain combo or move?
I'd say the only guarantee would be if you stomp at the same time an opponent is jumping forward. They have to take the stomp in the air (as far as I know).

But outside of that, it's pretty much always a gamble.

I don't understand why people consistently put Goro near the bottom of tier lists. He seems like such a solid character that is straight up better than many other characters.

Well the reality is that unless a character gets buffed into top 10/top 5, they keep that extremely low tier public consciousness that is hard to shake for a character, which is why I am hesitant to label characters early on in the life of a game because it lingers around like a bad odor.

The other thing people need to stop doing is assuming that low tier automatically means that a character is not solid or even terrible. If a game is very well balanced with mostly 5-5's and 6-4's across the entire roster, there will still be a low tier group because that's just how things inevitably work, everyone has an order and a place.

Goro is in an acceptable place, but as it currently stands, he is being outshone by a strong top tier like most characters in the game. He can compete, but a lot of people are very quick to take the path of least resistance for competitive play.

Tigrar Fury is very solid, even to the point that REO labels it an A tier variation. I also think Dragon Fangs is on par with Tigrar Fury, the only Goro variation that is not up to snuff is Kuatan Warrior, but it's still okay at least.

It hit with the dash but the follow up throw was not in range. You can probably reproduce this consistently.

you probably could but it would be in vain because goro can only get something off of a whiffed lunge throw if he trades with someone.

Why don't people use F4 in the corner more often? You get at LEAST 30% meterless in the corner, over 40% with one bar depending on how difficult of a combo you go for, and it's +4 on block. Tigrar fury has the excuse of being able to cancel 3D3 into fire breath for a big frame advantage on block (but there is a gap, right?) but the other 2 variations would make F4 strictly better with the exception of not breaking armor, yes? It's like he has Jason's kick but it leads into 30+% instead of 10 or whatever it is.

It's dumb because it doesn't launch high enough to convert against crouching opponents, so basically you can only get a combo off it if they're just standing there not blocking at all. I really only use it as a meaty if they're below 11% health and I want to smash their lifebar away. I think f2 and its followups are probably better in almost every way. Btw 3d3 sadly isnt cancelable on block.

People don't get launched as high if they're crouching? What. Also that 3D3 fact is disappointing. Didn't know there were strings that can only be cancelled on hit. My mains don't have any.

Pretty much what you said, Goro's ok but competitively he's just not worth playing. S tiers like Alien, Mileena, D'vorah, etc make him trivial and he just needs to work too hard to win.

And for the record I don't agree with Reo putting Tigrar in A tier. He's not on par with some of the other characters listed there. Really don't know what he was thinking. I've seen Reo's Goro.....it's mediocre at best.
