I can't remember there being any use out of it from MK9.
The stance button was imperative as Kung Lao player, if your stance was correct, you could 24 spin punish and guarantee that little extra bit of range that the second hit in 21 couldn't give you.

I am sure there will be similar things to that effect in Injustice. If a string wiffs on a certain range, change your stance and check it again.
