Greetings, folks. One thing I don't hear a lot of chatter about in regards to Grundy is his defense chain. Specifically, the one which grants him a reduction in block damage. I feel this chain is essential to use against characters that utilize a zoning strategy primarily, as it makes the battle of getting in less of an uphill battle, depending on the character.

So, I have compiled a list of the damage differences of particular character projectile attacks on Grundy. The damage Grundy receives when he blocks these moves without the trait active, and the damage Grundy receives when he does have the trait active. NOTE: The damage percentages will be for when Grundy has the full defense trait active. The situation will be rare when we have only the first part of the defense chain active, but maybe I'll compile that in the future. Until then, here is a list of the damage percentages Grundy receives on block with and without the trait active.


So, I'm listing the characters that primarily utilize zoning against Grundy. The characters in question are Deathstroke, Superman, Cyborg, Green Lantern, Sinestro, Ares and Green Arrow.



Deathstroke:
High Gun Shot block damage without trait active: 2.76% damage.
MB High Gun Shot block damage without trait active: 8.28% damage.

High Gun Shot block damage with 2x trait active: .28% damage.
MB High Gun Shot block damage with 2x trait active: .84% damage

Low Gun Shot block damage w/o trait: 2.76% damage
MB Low Gun Shot block damage w/o trait: 5.52% damage

Low Gun Shot block damage with 2x trait: .28% damage
MB Low Gun Shot block damage with 2x trait: .56% damage

Rifle block damage w/o trait: .69% damage
MB Rifle block damage w/o trait: 2.07 damage

Rifle block damage with 2x trait: .06% damage
MB Rifle block damage with 2x trait: .20% damage


Superman:
Heat Vision(laser) block damage w/o trait: 1.88% or 2.49% if Superman has his trait active.
MB Heat Vision block damage w/o trait: 4.88% or 6.48% if Superman has his trait active. The air EX Heat Vison deals one percent less damage for each version.

Heat Vision block damage with 2x trait: .19% or .25% if Supes has trait active
MB Heat Vision block damage with 2x trait: .49% or .65% if Supes has trait. Air version is .10% lower damage for each version

Heat Zap block damage w/o trait: 5.58% or 7.32% with Supes trait.
Heat Zap block damage with 2x trait: .55% or .73% with Supes trait.


Cyborg:
Nova Blast block damage w/o trait: 2.o0%
Nova Blast block damage with 2x trait: .2o%

Target Acquired block damage w/o trait: 1.63%
Target Acquired block damage with 2x trait: .16%


Green Lantern:
OA Rocket block damage w/o trait: 2.00% or 2.20% with GL trait
MB OA Rocket block damage w/o trait: 4.13% or 4.54% with GL trait

OA Rocket block damage with 2x trait: .20% or .22% with GL trait
MB OA Rocket Block damage with 2x trait: .41% or .45% with GL trait

Minigun block damage w/o trait: 1.00% or 1.12% with GL trait
MB Minigun block damage w/o trait: 3.00% or 3.24% with GL trait

Minigun block damage with 2x trait: .12% with or without GL trait
MB Minigun block damage with 2x trait: .36% with or without GL trait

Rocket Power block damage w/o trait: 2.25% or 2.48% with GL trait
MB Rocket Power block damage w/o trait: 4.25% or 4.68% with GL trait

Rocket Power block damage with 2x trait: .23% or .25% with GL trait
MB Rocket Power block damage with 2x trait: .43% or .45% with GL trait


Sinestro:
Fear Blast block damage w/o trait: 1.25%
MB Fear Blast block damage w/o trait: 4.13%

Fear Blast block damage with 2x trait: .13%
MB Fear Blast block damage with 2x trait: .42%

Meteor block damage without trait: 2.00
Meteor block damage with 2x trait: .20


Ares:
Dark Energy block damage w/o trait: 1.88%
MB Dark Energy block damage w/o trait: 2.75%

Dark Energy block damage with 2x trait: .13%
MB Dark Energy block damage with 2x trait: .42%

Sword Throw block damage w/o trait: 2.13%
Sword Throw block damage with 2x trait: .21%

Axe Throw block damage w/o trait: 1.50%-4.50% depending on how many times it hits you.
Axe Throw block damage with 2x trait: .15%-.45% depending on how many times it hits you.


Green Arrow:

Personally, I am not sure if it's worth posting exact numbers. All of Green Arrow's projectiles deal less than 1.00% block damage without Grundy's trait active. I'll list em' anyway:

Normal Arrow block damage w/o trait: .10%
Normal Arrow block damage with 2x trait: .01%

Fire Arrow block damage w/o trait: .80% if shot standing. .70% if shot ducking.
Fire Arrow block damage with 2x trait: .08% if shot standing. .07% if shot ducking.

Electric Arrow block damage w/o trait: .70%
Electric Arrow block damage with 2x trait: .07%

Wonder Woman
Tiara Toss/Shield Toss w/o trait: 1.88%; both deal same amount of damage
Tiara Toss/Shield Toss MB w/o trait: 3.26%; both deal same amount of damage

Tiara Toss/Shield Toss with 2x trait: 0.19%; both deal same amount of damage
Tiara Toss/Shield Toss with 2x trait: 0.33%; both deal same amount of damage



Hawkgirl
Mace Toss w/o trait: 2.00% or 1.88% for air version
Mace Toss MB w/o trait: 4.25% or 4.13% for air version. MB Mace Toss isn't exactly a projectile, since it leaves Hawkgirl right in Grundy's face, but she is left at frame advantage on block.

Mace Toss with 2x trait: 0.20% or 0.19% for air version
Mace Toss MB with 2x trait: 0.43% or 0.32% for air version

Mace Charge w/o trait: 2.63%.
Mace Charge with 2x trait: 0.26%
Special mention goes to this move because Grundy can't punish it on block. If you predict it, you can smack her out of the air with a MB Cleaver Spin, but you still can't punish it on block, and it leaves Hawkgirl at good distance to start another zoning game.


Batman
Batarang w/o trait: 2.88%
Batarang MB: 4.51%

Batarang with 2x trait: 0.29%
Batarang MB with 2x trait: 0.45%

Straight Grapple w/o trait: 1.25%
Straight Grapple with 2x trait: 0.13

Trait Bats w/0 trait: 0.76
Trait Bats with 2x trait: 0.08%


Black Adam:
Black Magic w/0 trait: 1.38%
Black Magic with 2x trait: 0.14%

Lightning Strike w/o trait: 2.25%
Lightning Strike MB w/o trait: 5.33%

Lightning Strike with 2x trait: 0.23%
Lightning Strike MB with 2x trait: 0.53%


Raven:

Shadow Raven w/o trait: 2.00%
Shadow Raven with 2x trait: 0.20%

Soul Crush w/o trait: 1.25%
Soul Crush with 2x trait: 0.13%

Her respective demon stance specials do the same block damage as her normal specials above


Harley Quinn:
Gunshots/Air Gunshots w/o trait: 1.50% or 1.95% with Harley trait
MB Gunshots/Air Gunshots w/0 trait: 3.13% or 4.06% with Harley trait

Gunshots/Air Gunshots with 2x trait: 0.15% or 0.20% with Harley trait
MB Gunshots/Air Gunshots with 2x trait: 0.31% or 0.41% with Harley trait

Popgun w/o trait: 1.63% or 2.11% with Harley trait
Popgun with 2x trait: 0.16% or 0.21% with Harley trait

Cupcake Bomb w/o trait: 2.13% or 2.76% with Harley trait
MB Cupcake Bomb w/0 trait: 1.63%-4.81% depending on how many hit you or 2.11%-6.33% with Harley trait

Cupcake Bomb with 2x trait: 0.21% or 0.28% with Harley trait
MB Cupcake Bomb with 2x trait: 0.16%-0.48% depending on how many hit you or 0.21%-0.63% with Harley trait


Aquaman
Trident Toss w/o trait: 2.38%
Trident Toss with 2x trait: 0.24%

Ground Trident w/o trait: 2.00%
Ground Trident with 2x trait: 0.20%


There you have it. My compiled list of block damage for Grundy's zoning adversaries. I still personally think this defense chain should be used against all zoning characters first and foremost, just in case they zone you out again, which is very possible. I hope you all enjoy~

Are you fucking serious? Grundy gets 10x less chip from doing this? That is amazing. God if only the defense trait wasn't so weak.

Here i thought the chip damage may be at max halved but it is 10x less chip damage. Guess this will be my go to trait when playing zoners.

In the next few days, I'll try to compile data for more characters that utilize zoning; characters like Black Adam, Harley Quinn and Batman, to an extent. Their zoning games aren't quite as strong as the above seven, but I guess it's still handy info to know.

I didnt realize at first how much the defence chain changes some zoner matches, granted you still have to get in there and hit it. Deathstroke basically has nothing on Grundy after the chain, if he goes for his own trait just SH it and make him come to you, it's glorious.

I was wondering this myself. Im also wondering the same about the health trait...how much diference it actually makes.
