I'm hoping, there'll be a mechanism in place where if you press the "wrong" tech option during the throw's start up animation you are locked out and eat the throw.I wonder if you can just mash all 4 buttons, so you don't have to guess the throw direction
Or the throw button ie left bumper or right bumper and right/left on the dpad, ive done that several times since my configuration was right bumper to throw.Yes. Your tech has to match the direction you were thrown in. In MK9 that meant you were pressing a different set of buttons to tech (front punch or kick vs. back punch/kick).
Not sure what the tech inputs are for MKX, but the concept is similar.
That needs to be patched immediately. I understand teching a throw but not if it's in a combo. That's just poor programming and breaks the laws of fighting games imo. I also noticed that if someone MB the throw it's techable. I think that shouldn't happen either, either make it to where if they burned the bar the throw goes through or don't allow the MB to happen until further in the animation so it's now blown.16 Bit said you can tech mid-juggle throws.
I used to think that before I got a confirmation that you can tech them, I used to think it doesn't make sense. That needs to be patched immediately. its techable because last i heard you could MB the throw to reset them at disadvantage at the end of your combosThat needs to be patched immediately. This is all speculation, but I'm sort of torn. Initially, I was like you. Teching while in hit-stun doesn't make sense to me.That needs to be patched immediately. i believe they said that they were one time on a kombat kastYea, this was an MK9 thing too.
No more throw punishes...
Also, now that you can throw in combos, I wonder are those tech-able? Or even the throw resets? :O
Remember, hit-stun in Mortal Kombat engine games doesn't work like it does in other 2d games. Like for example, when you're in hit stun in SF, you're wide open to be hit again, and that's how links connect. But in MK games, even in 'hitstun' you're still fully capable of blocking the next hit, regardless of how many frames you have left before you return to neutral.Teching while in hit-stun doesn't make sense to me.
Right, but MK throws still traditionally whiff on hit-stun. It'd be like landing Nut Punch and the opponent is forced to tech the immediate throw.Remember, hit-stun in Mortal Kombat engine games doesn't work like it does in other 2d games. The dagger stabs is not the cryomancer variation of his regular throw. This is all speculation, but I'm sort of torn. Initially, I was like you. Teching while in hit-stun doesn't make sense to me.
The only explanation I can think of is when I considered Cryomancer Sub-Zero's throw string. It's unique and from what we saw, added a shit load of damage to his juggle. Now I see a possibility that they make it so you have a choice.
You can go for the big damage ender, but it's 50/50 if it gets teched. Or you can end in Slide or something for less, but guaranteed, damage.
Still not sold on the idea til I see it, but that's all I can come up with. Still doesn't make sense to me to MB a throw in a juggle and have it possibly teched. We'll see.
I'm pretty sure normal throws still whiff on jailed opponents(jailed=MK's version of grounded hitstun).Right, but MK throws still traditionally whiff on hit-stun. It'd be like landing Nut Punch and the opponent is forced to tech the immediate throw.
But I used the term specifically referring to mid-string/juggle teching. Neutral or on block is one thing. But on hit just seems off to me on paper.
Well a juggle state is still different from regular hit-stun. I'm not sure if being able to capture out of a juggle means that you can throw people out of all hitstun in general -- could be just juggles and strings.Right, but MK throws still traditionally whiff on hit-stun. Anything that involves a leg kick that hits low is footsiesWhat are the laws of fighting games?
ape shall not kill apeWhat are the laws of fighting games?
WOW I need to incorporate this into my gameplay now.Anything that involves a leg kick that hits low is footsies
and zoning is cowardly
As far as his string that ends in throw. I thought Unbreakable and Grandmaster ended that string with normal throw while Cryomancer got a unique ender. No?The dagger stabs is not the cryomancer variation of his regular throw.
Oh, yeah I have no idea. Though I doubt it.Well a juggle state is still different from regular hit-stun. I'm not sure if being able to capture out of a juggle means that you can throw people out of all hitstun in general -- could be just juggles and strings.
Guess we'll find out soon.
