Big Pampering
Noob
So stuff like this has been going on since the beginning. Top players discuss strategies on the forums, other forum posters disagree--->top player gets mad. Let's hope MU/gameplay discussion are more productive when MK X gets out.
Some things I just want to say:
- We discuss strategies not resumes...
The opinion of a top player does hold more weight imo, but it doesn't make the opinion of other posters invalid by default. Discuss the matchup and don't just throw out a random MU number by saying X move beats Y move. If you're going to throw out a MU number, you're going to have to explain it(metagame) as well. You can't expect people to follow you blindly.
- Everyone is wrong every now and then...EVERYONE
Everyone can be wrong about stuff, even 10 time evo champs... Who has never been wrong? Reo won like 50 tournaments and he has been wrong about stuff...Tom brady has had over 20 years of experience with fighting games and writing guides and he is wrong every now and then. When is a MU really fleshed out? People can be right about a matchup with the knowledge available at the time, but matchups change as the game evolves. If everyone was right about the matchups from the beginning, wouldn't that mean said game has no dept???
- Strategy/MU discussions...
A matchup/strategy discussion thread actually requires you to discuss. It seems most of the people don't realise that. You don't make a claim from the start. You have to make a case for your claim. Don't be afraid to speak out, just back it up with solid arguments. Saying lol play this guy never helps either, what does your guy actually do that makes the matchup different? If you don't feel like explaining why bother posting at all? You expect people to follow you blindly?
It's just stupid that some stuff are the way they are right now. Feel free to state your opinions.
