What's up, TYM? This is GamerBlake90, here to present you with an article regarding the rise of this new character kouncil series hitting the Mortal Kombat community (council is spelled with a "k" as per MK tradition, of course). After having completed five councils, I thought I would give you all a notice regarding exactly how these work.
The idea stemmed from the Kenshi Kouncil held by players such as Blind_Man, Under_The_Mayo, Pig Of The Hut, BTK HY3NA, zaf, L0rdoftheFLY, etc. It was basically a gathering they desired to have on a stream channel, where the community could tune in and listen to the mindset presented by the Kenshi community. Not all 4-5 hours of this footage are focused on Kenshi, of course, but you get the idea.
Then after the unfortunate episode with the Jade forum, a council was held for them in an effort to not only reconcile their differences, but also to share their passion and knowledge of their green-clothed, rod-wielding female with the MK community. The idea was so well-received after the completion of the Jade Kouncil, that other character forums began requesting their own councils. As you can see, they have been answered and more requests will be fulfilled as they are submitted.
The purpose behind these councils is so that we may come to understand our characters better, as well as the players who support them. You can typically expect such conversations to include knowledge on the essential basics to the character, advanced tech that has been discovered throughout the twenty months since this game's release, reviews on the history of tournament players who represent these characters, the opinions of all players involved, potential suggestions as to how a player can define their unique style, combos, match-up discussions...in other words, what you often see transpiring right in their own forums, but placed in a more public setting, one where miscommunication is less likely to happen.
As you may have been hoping, all character communities will each get their own council. I originally decided not to host one for Kratos, since he is not tournament-legal and the only character to remain unaffected by all patches (save for the dash nerf)...but if there is enough demand, I may rescind that choice.
When a character council is requested, I will immediately create a thread in said character's section on Test Your Might, where all players may go to volunteer themselves as participants. The schedule at which these will be done is left entirely in the hands of the players, depending on their availability...but the final choice as to what order they will be done lies solely with me. As much as I would love to do all councils at once, I simply cannot, not with a new streaming schedule I have coming up...more details on that will be posted soon.
But do not feel as if your wishes are neglected. I promise they will be answered in time.
So anyway, when searching through the character forums, if you notice that a council thread was not yet made for a character that you want to see discussed on stream, you may send me a private message with a request that I host a council for that character, and I will respond. You can even host more than one meeting for a character council if the need is great enough, just keep posting in the appropriate council thread so that I can take notice.
The other requirement is to add me on Skype as gamerblake90, so that I may add you to the call when I host it. It is a free download and you require only a compatible microphone to take part. You can also join the stream chat and give your input there, but you run the risk of the info being lost since I do not broadcast the chat itself. Only the call will be streamed.
