Considering that Erron Black has been consistently nerfed since the first patch, I'm not surprised to see him descend down the list.

Not entirely, but tools play a big part in a character's placement, hence why DJT has mentioned specific tools in the explanations he gave.

@ManBatHorse good point lol. That being said, Hat Tricks has improved a lot since the patch, but yeah he wouldn't be top 2.

Idk tbh I couldn't care less about someone else's opinion. I just think it's interesting to see where one of the best players ATM ranks things. It won't define anything for me though.

I guess if it's an average high tech and shotgun drag her down, but for the record I think full auto by itself isn't bottom 3. Low mid tier probably.

Crazy chip, safe on everything, one of the best zoners in the game, probably highest damage combos, completely stuffs just about any wakeup in the game.

Time will tell, there is ways around his stuff but i think he'll be top 10 in the right hands.

Would you agree with my previous post on JC at 16, Liu 17, and Mileena, Kitana and Kano at 18, 19, and 20 respectively?

What people need to understand about these lists at this moment in the games life is that they're essentially just a comparison of tools and how strong different characters 'feel' at the minute. If you come in here taking this stuff as the gospel then you need to re-think your approach.

We can't possibly say that Shinnok (for example) IS top 10 now, as it's been a week since the patch and obviously that doesn't leave enough time to understand MU's, which this list doesn't take enough of into account.

That being said, it's not a bad starting point.

I respect most YOMI players, but I couldn't disagree more with numerous placements on this list.

Shinnok was beast before this Last patch, the last patch just made him more beast lol.

what happened to good old S,A,B,C,D tier rankings?

This type of stuff is why the MK community is trash sometimes. Sooooo many tier lists where people just vaguely describe why their top few characters are where they are and then just a bunch of random placings for the rest of the cast.

People need to stop with this. There are just not enough people playing this game to afford to bury a character like Ferra/Torr (Just an example) to shit tier. Especially with how competitive this community is. With everyone wanting to be a pro-level tourney player. Think about a brand new player to this game wanting to get good enough to win a tournament. They see this topic from a Yomi (Very respected group) player and take it as fact. Why would they ever bother wasting time with Ferra/Torr?

Basically what im saying is that we all know some characters are drastically under-explored compared to others at this point and these lists only turn people off from trying to explore them more and change that.

I want to see why you guys think the bottom 5 are bottom 5 in detail, I don't care to discuss my opinion because I am not a pro player or an expert. Overall though I think this is a good tier list, I feel like Jason might be better now but again, would love to hear what someone like FK Jr thinks about where he places now since he probably plays you guys on a regular basis with him. The main two I'm curious about are Shinnok and Kung Jin, I can see why Shinnok is good, especially in boneshaper but I'm curious what made Kung Jin drop so much.

You are honestly of no need of any tier list telling you where each character is ranked specifically if you understand which gameplay characteristics are most relevant to Mortal Kombat X's current meta game. The following list was originally posted by @GGA Max in the "Zoning Academy" thread. I slightly revised some wording and placed the gameplay characteristics in order of relevance.

1. 50/50 mix ups and pressure
2. Neutral game and footsies
3. Armored EX special move that leads to damage
4. Space control, zoning, and anti-zoning
5. Damage output

If you review this "check list", you will notice that Erron Black has almost all the tools that correspond to each characteristic. On the other hand, a character like Cybernetic Kano does not, so he will be ranked a lot lower.

I would like more emphasis on the bottom 10 characters and their placements. It feels like they are neglected and unexplored. Most of the controversy arises because of the buff threads and perhaps shifting the spotlight to those characters would help.

Well, I can't wait to hear the thoughts/edits on the "Version 2" YOMI Tier list.

Exactly one of the placements I was talking about. Kenshi being #6 is as likely as Kano being better than Liu Kang. Or a few other incredibly weird placements. No one would agree with this list if a random posted it.

The real tier list involves all variations.

I'm tired of lists that ignore the variation system. Just stop it!

The real question is how many times is Tanya in the top 5.

You know that I dislike the current freak out the community is having about the Shinnok buffs, but I think I would agree that Shinnok is around 8-10th spot. The reasoning is, if you look at the characters below him you can start seeing where they might struggle with match ups. But can you think of any match up apart from Tanya where Impostor and Bone shaper have any trouble? I can't see it. Not yet, at least.

I have to agree. Definitely do not agree with Kenshi being that strong.

Other than that I don't use most of the cast so didn't want to comment too much on it.

I actually think Shinnock does well against Tanya (like Kenshi and Lao too).

I just hope that when creating tier list you consider the best variation for each character, and not all 3 at once.

It's meaningless to say that Liu Kang ia low tier because of Dualist, when all that matters at the moment is how good Flame Fist is.

Every variation has to be treated as a different character.
