Tech - Mournful Kitana's insane blockstring in Mournful (up to 31% chip) BIG CHARACTERS ONLY!!

It was a glorious day for us Kitana players today, as she received NUMEROUS buffs (and one small nerf). One of the buffs she got was in her Mournful variation, in which her EX Glaive Toss no longer has a gap. With further testing, I noticed Kitana's EX Glaive was at least +9 on block. Because of those to observations, Kitana now has a very nasty frame trap that builds insane meter, safe, can be hit confirmed with ease, and can only be avoided with a block breaker.

As you can see, if she has 3 bars, she can continuously loop this, build another bar and loop it again, and finish it off with a block string that gives her half a bar back.

Here are some answers to any question that may come up:

-212 is the most damaging string that can safely cancel into ex glaive
-2 does hit high, but off of a JIP, this will jail
-both hits of ex glaive is a mid, so you cannot duck
-each loop builds about 50% of a bar
-this can be done anywhere on the screen
-if you decide to "take the hit", you're losing over 30%




EDIT: Due to the recent 7/2/15 patch, this no longer jails. 212 1st hit of ex glaive jails, but the 2ND hit can be interrupted with armor with most characters. Characters like Raiden and Erron Black have to block the 2nd hit, but can armor if Kitana tries to do another rep. Either way, ex glaive is safe on block.

nah man that jailed for sure I gotta look into how much chip lao got

EDIT: can't find it in the forums anywhere but it was like 25 hits or something like that on block with 3 bars I'll check next time I hope on MK.

EDIT2: So you can loop 112124~orbital hat 4 times and then 112124 hat spin for roughly 20%
so yeah she massively outchips lao, Crazy.

Man we deserve it lol. We stuck around for this long and went thru HELL. We got shat on by the community and we got shat on by characters.

Now we get buffs I think it was well deserved. This next part is not directed to you, but whoever complains about how "dumb" or "op" Kitana is can seriously fuck off

24% and you can't armor 112124~ex hat spin. B321~ex hat spin is the one that is backdashable, and can only be armor punished by Cassie (Lao can block the armor attempt from any other character).

When i was testing this string in training mode, I had it set to reversal armor and I got f112~EX Glaive to work every time with no problem. What am I doing wrong (or right lol).

Well I was doing it against Cassie and she ex flip kicked me everytime lol. F112 and 212 do the same chip and pressure with 21 is amazing, so I based the block string on that.

That's nice. It's good that you guys have this. I'm really glad that no characters got unreasonably fucked over with this patch.

Might have to try some mournful variant. Played once or twice but main royal storm. occasionally play assassin.

What type of damage can you get mid screed with mournful no meter?
