Exactly. That's why Jax and Kano are going to reign supreme in that respect (if you don't count Erron). They're not pure grapplers, but the main thing is that they're not slow, and they have other tools other than being big and trying to grab you that force you to play "their game".
I miss Grundy.
The is not "Grundysh" characters in MKX

Kano Commando main MKX
Erron Black not really a grappler. He just has a command grab. I thought traditional grapplers where like Zangief and Grundy?

Lackey torr is the best WHOLE grappler. Other than him if you're just looking for characters that do some command grabs try commando kano or erron

Erron black, despite me playing Sun God and Wrestler jax also a bit of Commando kano and a bit of lackey Biggie/smalls.

All of these others have tick throws of their pokes and "Kombo's"= One move not a full string. Jax has 12d3 for tick throw and SG KK has b14, b12 and would be the best grappler IF Erron Black didn't had the forward advancing normal that tick throws AND the 21122 from which he can tick throw u of at any point of the string(till the final hit) making u guessing when u can armor.

I'll parrot what has been said already:

Erron black is the best. I'm sure his D3 ticks on hit and block. He can also use his 21122 string which ticks in THREE different places. And it's not just a guess of when he's going to tick or where, it's not just three options, there is the option of not tick throwing and catching you trying to escape. He's ridiculously good. However, people aren't giving my boy Jason his props! He has really good tick throws and mind games. I might main him, he's so fun to play.

RIP Grundy
Cassie cage brawler?

Most viable will be jax but thats just because just is top 5 anyway.

Closest 'feeling' to a grappler i've had is sun god kotal though...

Erron Black wins by a long shot. He has the most tick throws, and his cmd grab has great range. Both of these definitely negate the fact that it can be ducked. Not sure why he wouldn't be included in the grappler list
How dare you defend Erron not being in the list and don't even mention Brawler Cassie who should also be in the list since she has tick grabs and pretty great meaty setups with f44. You are right though Erron should be in the list. Starting to doubt ur commitment to the Cage family.

None of the above and calling Erron Black the best grappler in this game is fucking ridiculous. It's like calling Yun the best grappler in Street Fighter. Yun is not a grappler, Zangief is. Just having a command grab does not automatically make a character a grappler. Erron Black is not a grappler. Having a command grab as yet another tool in his devastating arsenal of mix-up options still just makes him a rushdown character, not a grappler.

To go from Grundy to what little this game has to offer, NRS has completely failed the grappler archetype in MKX. I feel as outraged as @General M2Dave when zoning sucks.

I was really pumped up to pick up a grappler in MKX but they are severly lacking. I'm looking into Sun God as I feel it is the strongest "true" grappler atm (whatever the fuck that means). Commando Kano is good but I'm not really feeling him tbh.

Also EB outdoes every grappler and has better mixups YOLO

Its Erron Black in Outlaw because not only does he have the best 50/50 involving a command throw, he can also counter zone the zoning characters..

hmmm... this seems familiar.. "Erron Black isnt all THAT good" which reminds me of "Batgirl is fine because she has no neutral"...

You're way too fucking OG to be calling Erron Black a grappler.

Get over here!
I know erron black is not a traditional grappler, but when you have a super long string that can be cancelled at basically any time into command grab IMO that is a form of grappler. And I think it's safe to say erron had had the most success thus far of the grapplers therefore I would say he is the best.

Why is erron black not on the list? He lands command grabs more than any grappler in this game
It's just that people are trying to think of grapplers with a Capcom mindset. They simply don't exist in NRS games in that way, and people need to get their heads around it. Characters that sort of play like Capcom grapplers (thinking mainly of Goro here), are booty butt cheeks in practice. Instead, there are hybrids all over the place like Erron, who command grab the world but don't look or play anything like a Hawk or a Gief. Those are the "grappler" chars that are going to matter in MKX.

Goro isn't a grappler at all

Commando Kano, don't even know why this is a question. He has:
  • Great positioning with his grabs
  • High/Low parry will condition you to NEVER use a wake up attack unless you're one of those brain dead players, can also parry the gaps in strings
  • B1 anti-air for full combo
  • safe normals

Yeah, this is basically my issue. I just naturally think of "pure grapplers" in antiquated, non-NRS terms.
