Obviously, there are very few pure grapplers in MKX, but I was just wondering which character/variation this community felt was the best overall "grappler" slightly less than two months into the game's competitive life.

Note: I didn't necessarily include every character with a command grab in the poll, as one would be hard-pressed to define every character with a command grab as a "grappler." However, I did include an "other" option to cover everyone's opinion.

Cory, Trevor, smokes. Let's go.
I can only vote based on what I've seen, and CDJr's Jax (no matter which variation) is just nuts. He used Wrestler for a while and the tools he gains in that variation on top of what he already has across all three variations just make me dread fighting against someone who knows how to use him more than the others listed.

EDIT - Especially considering that he gets armor for his EX command grab - not sure what other characters on your list get armor, but given that Jax's is likely the fastest out of all the others, it strikes me as by far the most dangerous.

There it is...
Erron black probably lands more 'grapples' than most characters competitively.
His ticks off really good strings, and off hit on his d3. Ferra torr has a nice tick throw off his f3 in vicious and off his d1 on lackey but erron blacks seems a lot better.

Just watched sonic fox there and he probably landed more tick throws in one match than anything else i've seen.

Erron, non-strictly speaking. His grapple is a fucking anomaly. You can NOT block it. Whether you block low or high he'll tackle you straight over your own dick.
Wrestler Jax is another uncharted high tier material with crazy amounts of good tools right there.
And finally Ferret/whorr, he's got oki out the sockets.

I say Sun God is kinda "grappler" with greap tick setups (b14 , b12) and he have a lot of "50-50" situations with Grab or Anti-Air/Backdash if opponent can't do an armor move.

Jax is top 5. Quote me on it. Wrestler is his worst variation but he's still insanely good, he has every tool you could want

Competitively viable, I'd have to go with Jax. He's such a strong character across all variations.

That being said I do think Relentless Jason is heavily slept on.

Relentless Jason for sure. He's scary in the hands of a good player

Erron Black uses his command grab a lot, and is the best character w/ a command grab imo. Wrestler Jax is second.

Commando Kano and Brawler Cassie probably third.

Sun God Kotal has a lot of neat command grab tricks, and he has insanely good up close normals in d1/d4 being 6frames. However, without a true strike Armor move, and also with relatively slow strings, I feel like he is missing a couple of typical good tools that the best characters have. Though, the extra advantage on hit from his command grab is a huge benefit.

I think Lackey Torr has the best command grab and the best d1 (6f, -3 on block, giant range) but his other tools are lacking besides his armor. His run speed is much slower than the rest of the cast.

Relentless Jason is okay... I don't think he is that strong once his command grab strings are figured out, as they are relatively easy to punish if the correct guess is made.

Erron Black wins by a long shot. He has the most tick throws, and his cmd grab has great range. Both of these definitely negate the fact that it can be ducked. Not sure why he wouldn't be included in the grappler list

Yeah, I should have included him. I'm not sure why I don't think of him as a "grappler."

Plus on block.
Lackey and Wrestler no doubt are the most viable of the bunch. People are still sleeping on F/T.

Relentless and Commando are in the "if you put in the work in you will absolutely demolish" boat. Hell, a guy just mopped the floor with a high-level Quan player using relentless one of the recent notable tourneys.

Also, Goro isn't a grappler.

I don't actually play these games
The slower your grab is the better

EDIT: Also technically you can easily argue that none of these character are grapplers if you are going to nit-pick one or two of them so I'd leave your semantics out of it.

MKX is not made for grapplers.
Sad but true
Exactly. That's why Jax and Kano are going to reign supreme in that respect (if you don't count Erron). They're not pure grapplers, but the main thing is that they're not slow, and they have other tools other than being big and trying to grab you that force you to play "their game".
