MKX returning character possibilities

So MKX is confirmed to be the sequel to Mortal Kombat And take place from the ending and 25 years following. It will also have returning characters from the story who may or may not be playable but might give us insight on who we can expect to see.
I replayed mk9 recently to jog my memory of who actually is and isn't dead.

DEAD:

Note that I made this list by which characters we actually see die or in zombie form in the NetherRealm for Raiden to fight to confirm death. I made a second list of characters who did not die or it was unclear what happened to them. Also just because they are survivors of the mk9 story doesn't mean I think they will return. Only that we can rule out the ones we watched die

True. Though it was through some magic metaphysical spiritual shit, they both disappear. Not impossible won. But either would make sense...

Also Ermac on the survivor list, and seeing that render from last week, ad thinking about he probably doesn't age might make him a good candidate to make it Into the game since it spans 25 years

Here are the ones who I will be in for sure and why:

Keep in mind Boom confirmed on stream that the story is currently set to take place in 5 year intervals starting from right after MK9 and up to and possibly past 25 years after.

Reptile: it's fucking Reptile, not putting him in would upset the most people and he's arguably the most well known MK character after Subzero and Scorpion. I never even seriously played Reptile, but I know he's a huge fan favourite.
Shinnok: this game takes place directly after MK9, Shinnok is revealed to be planning something in MK9's ending. He'll be in and is more than likely the big bad of the game.
Quan: apparently Shinnok's right hand man based off of the MK9 story ending. He's also probably still controlling Scorpion, who is confirmed obviously.
Raiden: This shouldn't even be questioned. At the very least he could be replaced by Fujin.
Sonya: Didn't die and is 1/2 of the Earthrealm squad post-Sindel's HBIC massacre. Cassis won't be around in her shown version until 25 years after, but ER is going to need defenders for the story in the meantime.
Johnny: ^
Mileena: The only surviving member of Outworld royalty, making her technically empress, which seems like a significant plot point. Good chance she'll keep a few of Kahn's best around(Reptile, Ermac, the Shokans, the Tarkatans who she's technically a part of).

You can bet your sweet asses we'll see some MK4 characters in this, maybe one post-MK4 character if we're lucky.

While I would argue that Liu Kang is dead, it would kinda contradict what I've been predicting (more like hoping for) with his potential return in MKX. He's a significant enough character to be brought back.

And if he is brought and is not a villain, my Jimmies would be pretty rustled.

Make him a burnt up bad-arse that wants revenge on Raiden and the good guys, god dammit.

(AND NO, NOT AS A FIRE GOD, THAT ISN'T CANON. SHEESH)

I just want Kang in it. Preferably with no Bruce Lee screams etc and either neutral or evil. It's time for a remodeling after 22 years (23 in 2015!!).
The same goes for Sub-Zero's and Scorpion's long, boring, 22 year feud. It's over, let's move on. Midway tried to spice their -simple "revenge"- story up in MK4 (1997) when they introduced Quan Chi and it seems like the creators never gave neither an ending nor an expansion to their story after that.

Ermac seems like a good bet to return. Shang Tsung probably will too - as if he'd let someone like Shao Kahn betray him so easily.

I can definitely imagine Mileena taking the reins after Shao Kahn's death, so I reckon we should see her return too (especially since 25 years is scarcely anything by Edenian standards). Sheeva could return as Mileena's bodyguard. :D

If you look at all the Mk games after mk1 that gave been released. Liu Kang, reptile, raiden, kitana, and jax all have been there. So most likely these characters will be in the game. Night wolf would most likely in there because we all know that modern fighting game needs a racist stereotypical Native American fighter.
