You could maintain your positioning switching combos by doing b324, njp, run under, 141 maybe?

I haven't tried it myself, but it might work.
Good idea but it doesn't work from what I tried. Warlock got nerfed for no real reason.

I take that back. I do love the faster start up on the meter drain spell. The trance recovery change is terrible though so it doesn't help much. Still can't cancel spells with the meter spell or vice versa which I think the meter spell really needs to be viable on top of the speed increase. Don't know if I like it draining meter on block now but it's not a bad idea.

The chip spell doesn't need to be so fast. It was fine before but if it were to get a speed increase I'd say 7 frames would be good just to make it easier to use after 141 and still have time to jail runes. The rune trap being removed is awful, hard to blockables still exist for Summoner which sucks, sky drop having faster start up is fine I guess. He still has a meterless vortex unfortunately. No improvements to Warlock's portal grab or stab either, which he needed. Overall they're very bad and make no sense but there are some good things here too.

Quan seems to be better in some ways.. without the ridiculousness.

has zoning pressure for real now... ex rune still plus if delayed which also offers more zoning tactics.

stil has HTB
Still has Bat setups.
Still has tick throws
has a wakeup
Still has great reach with oh
Still has Low Starter.

might need to lab him up, but it seems all still apply if you figure out the new setups.

Same as before , you just need to use ex trance in combo. Or you can zone with runes and skulls , summon bat and run up to your enemy ... but its risky .

I'm eager to test the changes, seems quite more balanced now (hopefully no more bitching around the char) some hard to blockables seems to exist still, so summoner would be an option. Good thing all three varations are viable.

Quan is done, no longer a viable character for top tier play, summoner anyway. No bat after trance rendered quan so much weaker, less chance for mixups, and skydrop is still noob status. Quans reign is finally over.

the change isn't even out yet?


as far as we know:

he still has an un-react-able OH and low starter. Super fast runes, that are still plus i might add if delayed, his vortex is still there if you setup bat first (meterless i might add) and still there if you meter it. his Zoning got stronger.

the only thing i seen him lose is free pressure(HTB) after pressure(HTB), so what exactly made him not tourney viable?

and his sky drop may be better?

Summoner is the best of after these changes. Plus Quan never had reign

How much better is ex sky drop? Based on the video in the OP it still seems pretty bad.

Is it good enough that they need to deliberately go for armor breaking setups now, or do random buttons still destroy it?

Exactly this Warlock loses a bit of damage and the great positioning he got. You can't move forward/back to jump in or jump over anymore trance is too short. Improved skydrop doesn't really help Warlock at all.
It's not like Warlock needed help, though.

All he actually needed in that variation was 2,1,F3 to be special cancelable so it wasn't trash and you have a better punisher/combo filler.

Alright so I've played around with Warlock a bit in the beta, and as far as his BNBs go:

- Doesn't look like corner combos are effected, there's still enough time to get a jump back punch post trance.

- Midscreen however some jump in follow ups are mad awkward, depending on the distance/situation the trance was used to convert.

- It looks like part of the nerf to MB was done by increasing the recovery, my ideal BNB after a MB rune launch up close was dash up, NJP, 4 trance, I have not been able to land the NJP even ONCE. even following up with a B2 is stupidly finnicky now.

Hopefully I can run into some of you guys to test out if new timing is required or if they're simply not possible anymore.
