NRS Announces Mortal Kombat XL *Trailer, Buying Options, Cover Art, Preorder Links & The Pit Info*

There is no way in hell that the new netcode will be exclusive to MKXL.

There is already some outrage over MKX PC. NR$ will have some kind of patch that will
allow MKXL and MKX regular to crossplay just like Capcom does with their titles.

It may not have been confirmed exclusive but just like no PC logos on any of the KP2 trailers. we can assume. (we all assumed PC was about to get the shaft) Other wise what would be the selling point? Most already have the skins and kp1 so we pay 60 dollars for....kp2? It will be how you get the new netcode I'll bet money on it.
The selling point could be:
a) cheaper for people who may not have bought any of the dlc
b) people who dont have the game. NRS has done goty editions with all dlc before, this release was inevitable. Also, there are plenty of people who gameshare as well.

We aren't NRS only consumers and running 2 servers for one game could also be a pain in the ass for NRS. The possibility is there, I'd just rather wait for a confirmation before jumping to conclusions.

I know that. But theres so much misinformation going around that it is confirmed to be exclusive to mkxl. I understand being pissed at there being no actual information to whether it will be exclusive or not, but it would be nice if the premature reactions to something thats not even confirmed and the spread of misinformation would stop.
The only "piece" of information given to us is the fact that they advertised new and improved netcode as part of the MKXL package. It's right there on it and Boon tweeted it. Being that there's no other info out besides that and when asked for details they act like its Top Secret Classified I don't blame anyone for assuming the worst until they hear otherwise. The assumptions of fans are caused by the actions of those in charge, not the other way around.

He tweeted "New characters, costumes and the pit" were going to be in MKXL as well.
Besides maybe a few costumes, most of that content isn't exclusive to MKXL,
so why would the netcode be? People are being paranoid.

Would be crazy for the netcode update to only apply to MKXL, would actually be a slap in the face. Wait... more like a kick in the teeth.

So... @tylerlansdown ... Want to clear up the EO being in question for Original MKX owners so there's no need to take up pages of questions/assumptions.

Would think the obvious answer would of been easily answered already... Like 4 pages ago.

I really don't think the new netcode is gonna be exclusive to MKXL. I mean, it's obviously able to function on MKX considering that's the game we're using to test it.

"Online/netcode play and The Pit". My point still stands unless you're trying to say he meant to inform people there was an online option lol.
I think he was just informing people of all the differences
between MKXL and MKX regular.
Thats why hes listing all the features.

Is it confirmed that "The Pit" is for MKXL only?

For all we know, "The Pit" comes packed with KP2 and we know MKXL comes coupled with KP2. So, perhaps they're just advertising MKXL to be including all the features that will be available for MKX users to purchase separately, barring the new netcode, since that should HOPEFULLY be free. Then again, it could be tied with KP2.

Then check the Enchanced Online Beta trailer. Tyler said: "Future of Mortal Kombat X", "Online Beta for MKX", "MKX online", "New online experience for Mortal Kombat X".
With your logic, they confirmed GGPO online for MKX multiple times.

Chill Widow, you might have a better chance getting those nuclear launch codes from Obama before a clarification.

And one of those differences being "online/netcode play"? Interesting choice of words to promote MKXL.

Is it? I dunno. Do you? That's my point. When you announce things and then proceed to be the most vague of vague while answering nothing speculation and assumptions run rampant. Something as simple as "when do I get my PS4 beta access?" can't even be responded to but SFV tells you way in advance the exact start time and end time of their betas. For the tiniest of examples. There are dozens and this is what causes the current reaction on TYM.

Lol in the grand scheme of things that means absolutely nothing when it comes to pricing or separation.

I completely understand. Honestly, I'd like to know whether I'm going to have to spend more money for a solid online experience as soon as possible because I'm going to if I have to. My issue isn't necessarily with the assumptions, but the people who are taking their assumptions as fact and telling people that the new netcode is exclusive to MKXL when there's little to no evidence pointing to GGPO being exclusive. Unfortunately as always though, NRS does not know how to communicate so we're left in the dark which is shitty.

Just because they're not responding to every little question doesn't mean the sky is falling.

It's called the MKX beta not the MKXL beta.
Other than the tweet by ed boon there is no reason to assume that the netcode is exclusive to MKXL. Even that assumption is sketchy because the MKX characters he mentioned are not exclusive to MKXL, nor is The Pit stage known to be exclusive.

I can get behind this. I agree that people shouldn't be jumping to conclusions and automatically assume we have to empty our pockets for KP2 or for a new online. I just don't think we should assume that we don't have to being that there's nothing to base it on but an announcement with no details. It's like me saying "hey guys there's a football game tomorrow". Where? Who's playing? What time? Questions are going to follow announcements so you make them with details like almost every company out there does.

Just because they're not responding to every little question doesn't mean the sky is falling.

It's not like they avoid insignificant questions like "hey can Fujin make KP3". People ask legitimate questions about an announcement involving their money so they can plan accordingly. If this was the first time then yea it would be whatever, but they have a bad habit of doing this. I'm not an "MK only" type so I'm not used to this type of treatment from a company so I can relate to the other side getting upset.

My main point is if you make an announcement to owners and potential buyers you give details. That's the whole point of an announcement. You don't tell someone you're selling a car and when they ask how many miles are on it you ignore them. That's the in a nutshell. The only "details" told go into how amazing the MKXL is which is fine, they have to make their sales. They just need to do it in a better way that doesn't involve completely ignoring your loyal fan base because lately I see a lot more "I'm going to SFV" post mainly because of their trolling or ignoring actions wearing thin.

So I'm not saying people are right for assuming it's MKXL exclusive netcode, I'm saying they aren't wrong either until told otherwise which is a very important detail and easy to resolve in 5 seconds by someone in the know.

They would be separating like 90% of their playerbase, man. That's clearly just a randomly thought out number, but I seriously doubt the majority of the people who bought the game will buy it AGAIN just so they can play with those who bought the XL version. That would be such a bad mistake.

I personally feel it will be a free update or possibly tied to KP2. It being tied to KP2 wouldn't necessarily be the best decision either, but at least it would be cheaper.
You're trolling right? You've got to be trolling right now.

Can we get some confirmation on this subject, is there going to be a HUGE update for the MKX version to allow cross-play or are they just not going to be compatible what so ever, being that the game engine had a complete overhaul.

I don't think the game's engine has a complete overhaul, dude. Just the netcode. If it was a complete overhaul, people wouldn't have been playing the beta so quickly after getting their codes because it would have likely been several gigs worth of data to download.

Yeah but that would actually be cool. In fact, why not just make a whole Wizard of Oz skin pack? Wicked Witch of the East Quan Chi and Glinda the Good Witch Raiden!
HAHAHA you're right. I'd totally buy it! I'm trying to think of like the lamest skin ever...like Sweatervest Shinnok. I still would buy it.

I would put my money on it not being cross play. MKXL only with get GGPO, they had to rewrite pretty much the entire game to allow for the new netcode.

This process isn't just a flip of a switch from what I understand.

Edit: If they did update MKX to be compatible for MKXL that is going to be one huge ass update.

I really don't think it's going to be that big of an update, dude. The actual product itself can't be much bigger than the file that people downloaded for the beta and that clearly didn't take people long at all to download considering they were playing it shortly after getting their code.
