What's new

What could "fix" MKX to you?

For those that dont agree with the style of play for this game, what REALISTIC changes do you think could be applied in order to fix it.

Please, no netkode (its fucked sideways for eternity) or character buff/nerf suggestions.

It seems that there is an increasing number of "negative" topics regarding MKX which makes me wonder if I'm on the right forums. :p

On topic though, honestly my main gripe with the game is the netcode but aside from that, I'm quite happy with it. I'm really enjoying the game as it is offline.

Z-Listers like you couldn't anti-air your way out of a paper bag either way, the fuck are you complaining for?
I use more the just A-List and I'm saying in general anti airs should have been like MK9 style. But since your rude your on my ignored list.

Recently I've been thinking a lot about MKX and fighting games etc.

I've came to terms that MKX and MK9 are different games completely and I just have to deal with it and adjust. I didn't want to, but I will. I have to. If I was okay with Cyrax literally doing 70% combos (see DJT in tourney kill Wound ine one awesome combo) then I'm okay with hard-to-blockables. I'm okay with 50/50's. If I'm okay with Kabal being in the game then I'm alright with Dragons Fire Kang or A-list Johnny or Tempest Lao. If they get nerfed fine, I'll learn to adjust. I'm okay with MKX completely now, I have just accepted the nature of NRS games the same way a MvC3 player accepts the nature of their game. This is MKX, and I will live and die by the mixups... (and educated guesses).

In other words, this whole time I've had to learn to just shut up, get into training mode, git gud and level up where I can. I'm REALLY beginning my MKX path now. I suggest anyone complaining does the same, or go find another game. SFV could be promising if you're into that.

Wow, a sensible MK9 fan post from someone who has made a conscious decision to not live in the past forever. This legitimately needs to be quoted/posted every time people try to gloss over and use historical revisionism to upplay the problems MKX has while they try to gloss over and hide MK9's problems.

Thank you sir Scott.

My main issues really have nothing to do with actual gameplay. I would have liked a few more stages, maybe a few classic stages but ones that have showed some wear and tear over the 20 year time skip. Different music would be nice, the music isn't bad, but its nothing memorable IMO, nothing like the music from MK1-UMK3/MKT. I also would have a slightly different roster in my hypothetical perfect version of MKX, I like the majority of it, but I feel like it could use a few more not Earthrealm/human characters. The story was also a little different than I was expecting, its not bad but it came out a lot different than what I was expecting, which is my fault for expecting it to be a certain way in the first place. I also felt like a lot of the mysterious/mystic and Asian influences were toned down a bit. I guess I am just kind of stuck in the past a bit when it comes to MK lol but I still I love the game and have not once felt like it wasn't worth every penny I paid for it.

Thanks for the legitimate responses in here. This really wasnt meant to be another troll thread.
Still it won't change anything.

The only thing that warms my heart is each new game is better than previous. So maybe in 2-3 iterations we'll face a solid game. But there is always a "but". NRS are good at innovating but they always don't think it through and fail at fundamentals. And I'm talking not about balance and mechanics but simple things like King of the Hill (can't chat/etc when you are a king), ranked (does it need any comments?), dummy in training mode (some specials can't be set for wake up and reversal), frame data (is it that hard to make it valid?), etc.

1 bar block breakers would almost completely balance 50/50s and the three top tier pressure characters you mentioned, (A-List, DF, and Tempest) that's why they are the single most important thing this game absolutely needs, even more so than a better netcode because gameplay is always the most important thing, and block pressure guessing is the most problematic thing for the gameplay right now.

The reasons for me not playing MKX are almost entirely unrelated to the game itself. But if NRS were to put Baraka in the game, I would definitely be playing it again.

I WILL EAT THIS GAME
Normal Step: set default round timer to an actual 90 seconds.
Game Changing For The Best Step: patch in IGAU-ish style pushblock for block breakers: costs one bar, no stamina.
Pretty Much Insane Lets Shake Things Up Step: reinstate 4 frame wakeup invincibility. That's right, I said it. Why the hell not. Character dependant anti-airs, next to no legitimate defensive options throughout the meta...if youre gonna make things crazy, make them all the way crazy.
