Just wanted to clarify that Guilty Gear before Xrd was pretty difficult all around. Xrd, while still difficult in some parts has brought down the execution requirement needed to play that game. I-no got a move or two changed input wise so she is easier to play.

Hardest games I would have to say KoF and Old school GG like Accent Core. GGAC era had stuff like FRCs. From what I know about Melee I would say the hardest part about is the footsies/spacies/neutral game because of things like "dash-dancing"(I think that's what they call it.) and L-cancels. Anyone here know exactly how tough the execution in that game gets? Like how I can say SF has 1f links.

This dream has a sad ending
I mean every character had different levels of execution in every fighting game but in general kof and older guilty gears

MKX players whine when their combos don't work on Cassie, and think it's insane that they have to learn a second set of combos for one particular character.

In Melee, every single combo in the game is character dependent, and every single character has a different combo for every character. And the combo further varies based on how much health the opposing character has left.

This probably isn't execution per say - less about the difficulty of executing something, and more about knowing what you need to execute in every situation. However, i think melee is the hardest fighting game by a decent margin.

Also true. Xrd is still tough in a sense, but if you reached a respectable level in older GG games it's no comparison.

Damn this thread just makes me miss the older games so much more. Damn new generation dumbed down all the fighters because they're too lazy to practice hard for success or deal with difficult situations. -.-

I've mostly played anime throughout my life, and still play more GGACR than anything, but I'd say that just for Geese Howard with those stupid pretzels the hardest execution has to go to KOF in my eyes.

Hey don't get mad at use younger dudes just because old school games had you oldies getting arthritis in your 20s from breaking your thumbs over inputs. :DOGE

MK is relatively easy on execution barring a few characters, but even then it isn't as rough as some other games.

Game I would say Guilty Gear has been up there. KOF too. It's easier for me to think of characters with the hardest execution in games because I've played so many. From the ones I've played I know that-

I-No in Guilty Gear is so difficult that I believe only a robot could maximize his potential. Most difficult character ever to use.

In Tekken Kazuya, Devil Jin, Nina, and Hwoarang are pretty high up there.

Virtua has that man we know as Akira.

Soul Calibur 4 had my girl Setsuka.

Etc.

Characters that are easy to use can be found in all games as well though. Overall I'd probably go with GG or KOF.
Dude I wish I could play ino at a decent level lol

The weird part about smash is that all of those things are kind of self inflicted by the competitive community. Sakurai doesn't seem to really care about competitive play and most of the stuff I've seen is just what happens when you take a game not made for competitive play and play it competitively for a decade. Not that that's a bad thing. Just very interesting, at least to me.

Competitive melee is for sure self inflicting. Most of the tech in that game are cause by bugs or things that simply were not intended. Its funny how all these bugs were able to be exploited to the point where they become tech and how it lends itself perfectly to competitive play. Melee was just a series of beautiful mistakes.

Melee is weird in the argument because most of it doesn't work like a traditional fighting game. Most of the heavy execution stuff exists within the neutral game, and while there are many difficult combos, it's (mostly) about having good spatial awareness and knowledge once you have the techniques down. In the traditional sense I'd say GG and KoF are probably the most execution-heavy

Get your guns on. Sheriff is back.
King of Fighters XIII. Holy shit...I played the past titles but it just sorta takes off on execution at 13. You know how there is generally a slowly ramping curve on things you can achieve? Well KoF 13 is a damn near vertical rock climb for some. Your basics peak super early then in order to get any sort of redeemable combos you have to get solid as shit. Confirming off of the smallest shit for links, judging height to keep combos going, counting frames, counting number of hits, Cancels...just so much timing involved on everything in a game where moves have nearly as many directional inputs as they have syllables in their name when spoken in japenese. Just crazy.

From personal experience it's got to be Melee and Guilty Gear #R for the PC.

In Melee, movement alone takes a toll on your fingers and thumbs. We talking about wavelanding, wavedashing, dashdancing, L-canceling.....oh boy lol

Let me not get started on them old school GG games & I play Slayer. You'll get arthritis real quick playing these games.
