Connecting to Online Issues

Wow. I can confirm after using Spotflux and setting up the VPN the game works fine and no LSoD. I also immediately got the update which unlocked Tremor (which was previously stuck on "coming soon".) Not only that but this gives insight into what is causing the problem with certain IP's being "filtered out". Maybe NRS can contact those WARframe guys and see how they fixed it so easily. One thing that concerns me is that using an online VPN might cause increased lag. Any trouble with this @MadCntt ?
Nope, as a matter of fact the connection felt better to my usual training partners :)
Ranked games in general feel better too, considering how bad they are overall due to the netcode

However I'm glad that this might actually be a reliable fix and that it worked for you as well
It is still shocking to me how small companies do such an infinitely better job at supporting their players or designing a good netcode...

This can't be a solution. Any extra hop you add (like putting your PC in the middle of the connection) increases latency by ~2ms. That's just networkng basics. If it works for you, great, but it's a garbage fix.
All fixes we have so far are garbage fixes. Only NRS or MS can truly solve this problem that is clearly on their end.

What exactly did you expect? Ofc it's not an optimal solution neither should anyone be forced to do this, especially not in 2015, however it works, it's easy to set up and it prevented those random lag spikes so far that i always used to have in NRS games only. On top of that I rather stay wired and use this than using any type of wireless connection just cause they are too <insert random insult> to fix it.

Actually I feel like making another post right now, simply cause using a VPN at least allows me to test stuff further what may or may not cause this problem.

First I wanna talk about the delay you mentioned since this was main concern as well. I played the game a lot when it was released, it is infinitely better against friends with a stable connection, or just players in general where you know that they have a decent connection.
I played Killer Instinct since the game got released and I think we can all agree that the online experience between KI and MK X isn't even comparable, as in how good and how bad the other is.
I played the same people in KI with I would honestly like to call a perfect experience as far as "perfect" online fighting games go so far, I have never had a better time in a fighting game connection wise than I had in KI. I heard Skullgirls has an insanely good netcode as well but I only played the steam beta for it so i will leave this out. Now, I play those same guys I played in KI before in MK X and it is NOWHERE even close to as good as it was in KI. There is always noticable input delay in MK X I'm sure we can also agree on that. Playing against friends usually is acceptable, however there is still input delay and some random lag spikes.

I tried playing KI with the VPN against friends and there is no noticable difference in delay, the game still feels great. I tried this same thing in MK X with the VPN, now here is the difference... the game feels a lot more stable to me and the people i tried it with, especially, cause the random lag spikes didn't happen anymore.

What I'm trying to say is, even if you have a ping of let's say 10, you will NEVER really get this experience in an NRS game, so I don't see any reason to not use the VPN for MK X.
Maybe it is completely different for some of you, I don't know, but so far you are either stuck with waiting up to 20 minutes to play a single game, or try any of the 3 solutions @Fraud Blank posted in the other thread. I personally think the VPN is the "best" and most reliable so far, don't get me wrong I'm open to ANY kind of news you have on how to "fix" this. Every solution that will come from our side is NOT optimal, but unless they actually fix it themselves, we are stuck with what we figured out so far.

Could You give me the steps to do it please!

ive had a few comments removed by mikemetroid so NRS know about this if i could i whould sue them ive completed witcher 3 still nothing im fucking rageing how can this be allowed to go on SICK AS A MUDAFUDA
Not sure what you're going on about there. MikeMetroid is NRS staff? or Mods here are somehow in cahoots with NRS devs? I don't think that is the case.

FTR i've reported two of your posts - mainly because of the abusive and threatening comments that don't help out anyone in this situation. Just makes you look extremely childish.

If you want to do something constructive, pester WBgames tech support, submit bug reports, post to WBgames and Mortal Kombat facebook/twitter pages, chat to Xbox support. The more people that do it the better, but do it in such a way that you don't look like a rambling fool. Explain the problem, state what testing has been done, link to the TYM and Official WB Games/MK forum threads and point out how long it's been happening. Make a point you won't by anymore DLC or WBgames if you want.

Whoa tiger, I said the workaround (it's not actually a "fix") is garbage, not you. But don't let your anecdotal feelings get in the way of truth about latency. KI is designed to hide delay, MKX is not. You won't be able to tell the difference with KI because it is specifically designed to deal with this one key fighting game issue. Testing with the console version of SF4 before and after the VPN would actually be a valid test. This next paragraph isn't aimed at you either, so do be mellow.

I've decided that running my console to a PC through a VPN just to play what's proving to be a pretty mediocre fighting game with some of the worst netcode in business is just more punishment than what I'm willing to put myself through. I'm done with this game, won't be buying the next NRS game, and am done with WB games in general (Thanks Arkham Knight!). Every DLC character has brought further issues, the PC version I paid for as well is DOA, and NRS is so scared of offending this stupid fucking whiny community that they won't do even the basic communication about issues.

So DONE. This little post is a company losing a customer, and it won't change anything except I'll have an extra couple of hundred bucks in my pocket. I'll see you online in Tekken 7 or SF5.

Nah i know what you meant, I know it's not a fix and I was just glad to have finally found something that let's people play again. The 2 main reasons why I even wrote this wall of text are cause i know that there's people with this issue that really want to play the game and the other one would be that I was at least hoping to get some kind of reply from NRS side about this... I contacted XBL support and got replies instantly saying (obviously) that everything on my end is fine and that they will redirect this to NRS. I also contacted WB a week after this first happened and I still haven't gotten a response, so I was hoping to at least MAYBE get some kind of attention from their side here on TYM related to this issue...
Obviously I was wrong and this will most likely be my last post about this as well. Everyone here tried as much as possible to provide information about this load of BS and there is still NO response whatsoever.
There's a guide in the other thread on how to set it up if there's people who really want to play, I'm out of ideas on what else to do without the "help" of NRS so I'll just leave it at that and stop wasting my time about stuff they don't give a single fuck about.
I really hope they read your post cause it summarizes what we all are thinking.
GGs NRS, you are all going straight to hell

Its unexpectable since the tanya patch it takes 10 mins for "connecting to online" screen to go away between each game and at first when you go into online ! That should take like 1 sec at max !
If you wanna play a 2 hours online straight ranked match how many matches normally can you play? Well us, we can ONLY play 5 matches at best in those 2 hours :/
Since the tanya patch, updating game data take a while, connecting to online take 10 minutes each time, dlc characters re locked with skins , so we have to reinstall the dlc or restart the xbox to fix it.. I hope that a simple restart would have fixed the connecting to online issue :/
The saddest thing in all this is that NRS didn't acknowledged this bug yet since the tanya release !

hi guys just wondering if im the only one who goes through stages where im forced to continuously connect to online which takes about 5 minutes everytime. Even after i finish a ranked match i have to reconnect to online for some reason and it takes another 5 minutes just checking if there is a fix to this or im forced to hold that? i do have a good connection btw so i doubt its on my side

It's pretty much RIP for Online on the X1 cersion of this game. All that's left is a jank ass offline where for some reason it takes 5 minutes to get to training mode only to find out that you have to re-download your DLCs...lol

For me it's different. Once I've connected to online I'm good but the struggle to connect in the first place is real. When i click on 'Online' it takes like 2-3 minutes just to give me the error "Failed to read player stats" and i have to try again. Most of the times it only takes about 5 tries but sometimes i have to repeat this process for half an hour....Does anyone experience it this way too?

EDIT: btw I'm on PS4

so far I'm connecting to online just fine on XB1 Steam and PS4, but from what I hear, you are not the only one

I've posted in this thread a few times already. I've moved since my last post and now have Comcast as my ISP, and have no trouble connecting to online. I'm curious as to what connections people are having problems connecting with. I was on DSL before, couldn't connect to online. I'm now on a cable connection, and everything is fine. If anyone wants to try messing with their DNS, try 75.75.75.75. I dunno what it is, why some ISPs break the game and others don't. Just trying to help.
