What's new

General/Other - Tanya Tanya SHOULD be normalized.

What do you think about the normalizations?

Tanya vs sz is pretty manageable post patch. Clone stop forward teleport, etc... It was the old ex teleport that gave him issues. I had little problem with her teleport in pools. That being said, its too much. They counted to 1000 before one got punished.

Normal teleport needs to take stamina. Say anything you want, most tournaments will look like this if nothing is done.
Even grounded teleports? That would be silly.

Remove invincibility, increase startup frames of instant air teleport. If they did that you wouldn't see nearly as much teleporting. Also fix AAs in general to out priority jump in attacks. If someone d2s me they shouldnt trade with my jip or njp.

To be fair, I had just learned the "match up" roughly thirty minutes prior to finals grinding out a few games with Deg so I won't speak on what actually needs "nerfing" but that tele spam man....

Please make that cost a bar of stamina at the least. Mobility is so important in this game and she can do whatever she wants with little to no consequence. I mean, why back dash or forward dash? lol Regardless, I'll lab it up and try to find answers for her. She doesn't seem debilitating to my character, just overwhelming at the moment due to lack of knowledge.

Also, in Tanya's case it is her core gameplay that is the problem.
Agreed. Having a teleport use 1/4 bar or something feels right. It lets her be crazy in bursts. It keeps her gameplay intact without letting the game devolve into what we saw today.

The problem IS her design... I think youre right. Having teleport cost stamina makes sense. Any other changes would probably ruin her. Because of her design its going to very hard to balance her in a way that doesnt nerf her into unviability.

Get over here!
As much as I enjoyed top 8 from CEO I have to admit it was painful watching those teleport fest Tanya mirrors. There is no way that to general fgc fans watching this it made the game look appealing at all. Obviously Tanya is going to get nerfed in the next balance patch but I hope that too much damage to the games reputation is not done before this happens. We will always have our small tight knit scene but mkx is a real opportunity to expand the mk community and things like Tanya will not help accomplish this.

Her teleport in pressure is a complete bill, people who were getting caught up didn't have enough time labbed in the MU. But with that said her runaway & anti zoning skills are nuts but that's not the problem, the problem is her damage is REALLY high, to high for a character with all these tools. Even the other Top tiers are missing something or other meanwhile Tanya isn't really lacking much her worse feature is her armor but it's just good instead of amazing.

Something hopefully happens. If Evo top 16/8 looks like CEO did its gonna murder the non-hardcore-mk scene for this game.
If they're so easily swayed from trying the game because of a tournament, instead of breaking the character down, then they probably didn't want to be apart of it anyway.

Anything can happen in a ft2 set at a tournament, especially when the stakes are high.

Her damage isn't even that high though outside of naginata (which lacks the pressure and zoning capabilities of pyro and Kobu)...it's like average damage. 30-35% 1 bar midscreen, slightly more in the corner. Honestly, her damage is hardly a problem.

The Tanya showing of today was completely dumb, she moves for free! If she doesn't get nerfed, this game will get booed at EVO without a question.
Yes, we saw anti-airs, but they either happened once in a while, were unconsistent or just didn't happen in the case of some characters.
Removing the invincibility frames should solve this, I also think that the teleport is way too fast, reacting to her is ridiculous, she can either do a super fast instant forward teleport into JP, F2, run in, flipkick, low spiral... It's ridiculous. Making it a bit slower would keep her fine and more balanced.

I respectfully but completely disagree.

If you dont currently play a game, and you see a top 8 that is a crazy-looking mess where half of the players are using the same character, you dont think to yourself, "hey, that looks fun! I'm totally gonna get that game, break that character down, and I'll show em all!" You do what a lot of players did after Injustice's first Evo - you think, well, that was lame. Aint touchin that!

The exact opposite happened last year with Blazblue. The top 8 had awesome character variety and showcased an amazing set of different character and player styles. The insane hype of that top 8 was single-headedly responsible for making me run out and buy the game after Evo.

If their changes can't be done through hot fixes, I highly doubt Tanya will be touched before EVO despite people trying to make it happen; it's three weeks away with the ESL finals before it as well.

It takes time to create and test the changes to be sure they didn't mess anything else up in the process, and then if it's something that can't be implemented via a hot fix, and would require a patch, then they would have to go through the trouble of dealing with licensing for Sony and Microsoft and that takes more time. And if they're going to have to make a whole new patch then I'm sure they'd rather wait until they have more changes/fixes in mind, rather than going through all that trouble just to patch Tanya.

Not in NRS case. They just go ham.... or they just don't change anything. I really doubt that they test it to that extend as you wrote. Almost every hotfix till now braked something / some character. Its been always a problem with NRS -> patching. Atleast they didn't destroy any character (nerfing him to the ground) yet.

... When does Predator come out? That's when the next patch will be because that's how NRS has done shit since MK9.

I thought it was pretty soon. I expect him to be out before ESL and EVO.

Also, they have hotfixed things before in this game already so.

That just strikes me as to high for a character with all of her tools, it's not uncommon for characters in FGs with all the tools she has to have low damage.

Honestly let's just hope theirs no changes to the game before EVO, especially nerfs to Tanya. The games reputation already took a huge hit due to this last patch.

If I told you that Scorpion used to get 1 bar 41% pre-patch with Inferno that was a vortex, is that too high?

If I told you in this current patch, Bone Shaper Shinnok gets a 39% 1 bar with a +8 on hit fireball restand to go for a low or grab option, overhead being the riskiest, is that too high?
