I think Takeda is probably better than was thought, but we should have learned our lesson by now about assuming character tier placement from early Top 8's.

I dont think anyone is saying he is top tier or even high tier though. All we are saying is he is probably viable in the right hands(that's what I've been saying anyway).

Raptor already covered most of this but one of the great things about this string is it is a great conditioning tool and has ways to blow up your opponent for trying to beat it the same way every time:

So for example say you do f12 2+4 kunai the first time. If they try to armor through the gap you can just do f12, block the armor and punish. You could also end with a tele cancel instead but that only beats certain armor moves if done properly. You can also do EX kunai to blow up the armor or EX Fist flurry to get more damage. The whole string becomes one big mind game where with proper conditioning your opponents will be forced to guess what you are going to do next. Ive also been working on doing a tele cancel once, then the next time holding tele and releasing when they try and punish the cancel for even more pressure(I need to test this more though, might have just been a lack of MU knowledge on the opponents part).

If you add all those options with the fact that you can change up between f1 2+4 and f12 2+4 it can mess with opponents pretty well. You can also do the same things with his b21 string by doing b21 kunai, b21 tele cancel, b2 kunai, b2 tele cancel etc. The tele cancel can also not be blown up if the b21 is done at the right range. If the b21 hits you can hit confirm into EX spear for 37% 1 bar or if you have meter to spare you can hit confirm into EX Bf2 for a 45-46% 2 bar combo(I like ending rounds.games this way).

And before anyone says anything, no I don't think the character is super good. He is riskier and takes a lot more spacing/footsies in general and if he guesses wrong he can get punished big. But I also think he is viable.

this is enlightening, i like the mind game element you added. for too long i've been focusing too much on what is guaranteed when it comes to takeda, when in reality you can use much to your advantage and gain the upperhand, that is one huge take away i got from @RedRaptor10 performance at CB.

thanks for responding, just to clarify again these people came up to him before or after top 16? i just want to know a time frame because it could have been around the same time trepound was saying that to me really loudly as bugman can attest to and it could be they thought i had said it idk. not sure who these people were i just hope they aren't trying to spread lies about me to get me blown up on purpose.

If you enjoy the character, just play the character and stop with all this" is he viable or not" because 9 times out of 10 the player makes the character viable, not the other way around.

Most tourney vets would tell you to not take anything someone says right after they lose seriously. I've heard that Kabal was ass, Cyrax needed faster normals, Superman wasn't broken, Baraka was too good etc. etc.

Best advice is to let the salt flow and focus on the next match.

True I was purposely being a dick. Whether you are gracious to Raptor or not, it's hard to deny the timeline of you saying Takeda isn't good and not tournament viable, to then be proven wrong by Ratpror's top 8 placement, to then making a video on how to blow up his strats for the entire community to see. It's a passive aggressive jab at him and I wasn't going to allow it whether it was intentional or not. I mean, haven't you already made a video about this in the very first thread you made with why you thought Takeda wasn't good? Why make a whole other thread about it then if not to try to somewhat tarnish Raptor's performance? And wouldn't you, as a Takeda player, NOT want this to be common knowledge? This whole thread just seems too fishy to me.

Im saying I dont care. Me and Raptor have already posted his actual options from the string. Zyphox even pointed out that they were good ideas. So regardless of what his "intentions" were, the thread is now actual tech discussion so continuing to bring up the drama aspect is not really worth it.

Spreading misinformation about something is not a lie unless he himself knows anything he says is factually inaccurate, and I dont think anyone here would argue that @Zyphox actually thinks that what he says is just to stirr shit.

Also redraptor placing in a tournament being proof that Takeda is a good character is the biggest fucking bill ever, the game is a bit over a month old, lets not jump the gun here. (this is not to say that Takeda isnt a great character or not, its just the idea that this tournament should be the final nail in the coffin whether Takeda is good or not is preposturous.)
