Shirai Ryu takeda looks broken AF, i'm curious how that will play out. the others look moderate though.

My hype for Takeda is serious shit right now lol. The range on his whips made me so happy. Not to mention one of the strings had armor. He seems exactly like a character I would play outside of a MK game. He might ease my transition.....oh yea...almost forgot. Dual fucking light sabers lol.

Egg on people's faces that said having both Kenshi and Takeda would be a waste because they both would play the same. And lol at people saying Kenshi should just be a Takeda skin.

I agree, but I doubt I'll ever watch character intros and such. What is fascinating to me is his range. It was a good exhibition today.

Okay so Takeda looks mad sick in this kombat kast, but I have some curiosities none the less. I originally thought he would have some TK for range, but it seems like he's got the range down WITHOUT TK and that's awesome. He really seems like a scorpion/kenshi hybrid while still being unique.

I'm curious as to how punishable his ranged attacks are, I feel like they didn't emphasize that in the stream, but it's all good.

Hopefully he has some better dialogues, what they showed in stream was also kind of weak, but not so much that he's problematic. I felt like he was 'young' and 'inexperienced' in his dialogues with legacy characters, and as annoying as that is in some ways, it totally fits his story.

Can't wait to play him, and while nobody so far has uspruped Kotlal as my main MAIN, I feel like Takeda is a strong second.

I'll watch all the character intros until I've seen them all and finished story mode so there's nothing left to find with that. I agree that it was a good exhibition and his moveset does look quite good but I don't like him as a character. I feel that he has the wrong voice for one thing, he sounds immature. I also feel that they've made him into another one of those characters who needs to crack jokes to have a personality (and unfortunately mediocre ones in this case) like Cassie, I wanted him to be more like how he is in the comics He seems more mature and "Yeah, we're Shirai Ryu. We never run away from a fight." in the comics and I would've liked that in the game. I mean I get that he's early 20s but I would've thought he'd have developed more of a warrior personality having been Kenshis son and been trained by Scorpion...

Then again maybe he's more mature in the story, but I still don't think his voice fits.

This is legitimately the first character that has me shook.

This motherfucker scares me and I haven't even touched the game yet.

He's gonna be laying some MK9 Kenshi levels of "you aren't going any fucking where, I can catch you on any part of the stage instantly" lockdown.


I feel like his design over all is a really forced, like they tried to engineer a fan favorite instead of just making a character that people will grow to love, Dude has too much shit going on(razor whips, ninjutsu, Scorpion powers, daddy issues, lightsabers, MGS style sleek armor suit, generic young guy voice, edgy snark) and it still works, it still fucking works some how.

I feel like he's going to be a cause of many salt-filled matches.

P.S. that fatality is sick, and that x-ray is sicker.

i knew he would be the one for me when i first saw him, that lightsaber variation is going to induce so much salt. takeda day 1 main for sure here.

I cant decide if i like the shirai ryu or lasher variation best. That lasher range is so sweet but the spears on shirai are cool too. Gonna have to see what feels right.
