Scorpion controls basically every interactable. He can kill you with the pig in Arkham :/
Hell, Scorpion even has vortexes.

Shazam has a psycho crusher which is easily predictable.

Lobo isn't one of the worst. He can be pretty solid if used properly.

I will never drop him. once shazam gets in he can wreck people with his rushdown. The universal wake up buff fucked up shazams oki but it's not exactly hard to bait wakeups and punish accordingly. shazam is straight up the coolest an hypest character in the game, I love everything about him and will main hill the day I stop playing

Ok? Shazam nullifies every interactable with his own teleport and has a wake-up.
Scorp can kill you with the pig in arkham? So can anyone, only difference is shazam has the means to say "nerp" to it all.
Scorp vortex is irrelevant to Shazam, actually its irrelevant to anyone with a half decent d.2, armor... Wake-up...

Shazam has a "Guess wrong and you are eating 30-45% on the cheap with a scenario reset." Scorpion has a "If you guess wrong, you'll eat 20% (until I run out of meter in 2 moves).". Most of the cast can control interactables through means of armor, immunity, or projectiles as it is, so scorpion isn't very special. Batgirl does his job better, so as far as "viability" goes, his is sitting at a prime 0. He is a poor man's Barbara. Outdone by a crippled woman, how sad.

His vortex is weak, his damage is weak, his projectiles are weak, he has nothing that makes him any more of a choice than Batgirl.
Everyone on the list has something available to them that no other character can do quite as well. Scorpion doesn't, even moreso with the new MMH release.

His existance as a anti-zoning character is done better by 2 other characters, his damage is awful, and his niche of "you can't use interactables" is done by plenty of other characters who don't suffer from a lack of EVERYTHING.

How bad a character is has little to do with how well they do against other bad characters.

JustPressingButtons' post had nothing to do with how good Scorpion is compared to Shazam.

Depends, if the two MUs he has is against Superman and BA... then you could probably win EVO with that character.

Would have almost picked Luthor, but after Martian Manhunter's release, Luthor once again benefits from being the best counter-teleporter. Long range normals also laugh at his trait.

I had to vote Lobo.

Joker is soooo nasty when he gets you in the corner, and I actually find myself losing alot to Shazam players, soooo :)

Though I used him a whole lot in the first month of this games release I don't really know what makes Joker so unviable for tourneys.


What is it? Besides his trait being kind of, not good.

Why do people say Joker is bad? Doesn't he do good damage and has a good J3 and mixups?

I know he has the worst trait in the game, but he can be effective.

I think the issue is he doesn't really have good ways to start his combos, and outside of combos, half his tools are useless.

He has mixups, alot of them don't seem to be linkable to specials that would allow for setups and more respectable damage.

I'm sure there's alot more details of what's wrong with the Joker in the sub-forum, but from the Joker's I've played, that's been their main problem.

That's pretty much it. His normals also lack priority and range. You have characters like MMH and BA in this game. Joker has no place.

Lol, let me tell you why you are wrong about Scorpion:
  • His teleport leads to a 50/50 guessing game(w/ meter obviously)
  • His hellfire is a great footsie tool that either forces your opponent to jump or take damage
  • His MB Teleport is still safe against 1/5th of the cast
  • Even after the nerfs he still has great air attacks, possibly some of the better ones
  • With meter and trait he can still acquire a lot of damage due to the 50/50 guessing game
He is bad but no where near the worst. Although TBH I dont even think the "worst" is not tourney viable with the right amount of work.

  • Limited uses, Batgirl can do it for free, and better.
  • Or dash, or interrupt its start-up, or armor through, etc.
  • 80% its unsafe against, and most of them are common tourney entrants.
  • "possibly" being a j.3 with next to no reach and a j.1 with no priority?
  • Lots of characters can do more damage for free without traits or meter.
"Viable" doesn't necesarrily mean "He can/cannot be played", its "Is he the best choice for his position". And as he is, he has literally nothing that makes him any better than the other 2 options. Lobo, Shazam, Bane, Lex, and Joker all have something they can do which no other character can match up to, but when it comes to scorp, you might as well pick the better option.

Name me one character who has it worse. Worse than 2 bar 20% combos, lack of wake-ups, lack of a solid vortex, crap air attacks, and so on.

Joker does have issues. And he does have a few lopsided match ups, but he is very tourney viable imo.
Aside for a few select matches, he can compete with the majority of the cast.
And his tools are not that bad. One hard knockdown or one opening and he can easily take almost whole life bar with one more incorrect guess.

Hm, i voted Lobo here. For the other 3 I see how they can be used effectively, Lex has tons of tools and can come up with surprises every once in a while, same for Joker. It's a tie between Shazam and Lobo then, I feel Shazam is slightly better due to higher mobility, a smaller hitbox and a better trait.
