Tournament Mode?

Tournament mode seems to eliminate distractions, eliminate gaining meter on first hit and seems to be really good. Any reason this isn't the standard? I didn't see a thread for this so thought I'd ask other TOs here

No way to turn it on permanently and some people like getting a bar for first hit as its how they have been playing since the begging
