Who is the most successful 3D Character design?

So personally, I love having returning characters who have not been seen since the 3D era - it is one of the highlights of this game. Ignoring Nitara's HORRIBLE voice acting, I think they have done a great job of all of them, and I like that they kept a little bit of their original flavour.

So I was wondering - who do you think was the best redesign and why? Who could you see being a breakout character who has the potential to be a semi regular of the series in the future?

For me it is hands down Ashrah.

IMO I think she is the best looking character design in the game. There is a lot of future potential with her.

I love that they kept the essence of her gameplay. She was my main in MKD and was a mid-range specialist – I like that they kept that vibe.

They did a fantastic job with her.

As you all know by now, I loathe the 3D Era, but as I've admitted before, they did well with Ashrah. While I don't play her, I actually like her overall in this game.

Reiko is also arcade era and shouldn't be in the pole. He's cool though.

It really is some of the worst voice acting I've heard in a game in a long, long, long time.

Ashrah is cool.

Li Mei has a worse design than past games. And I don’t get why she fights with lanterns.

Havik is okay.

Nitara is awful but I like some of her moves.

Reiko could’ve been so much better. Honestly he looks like a character NRS pieces together last minute. Most of his moves are generic and his personality seems like a cheap imitation of a spartan. Plus he looked better in past games too.

So Ashrah is the best. Gameplay and personality wise.

I was hopeful for megan, she didnt sound that bad on the trailer, and then BAM, the story mode happened.

Havik looks like SHIT compared to MKD, IMO. Li mei is okay, though her costumes are the blandest in the entire game. I'm going with Ashrah, which looks, plays and feels very rich, personality-wise.

It’s clearly Ashrah. Havik is cool but he doesn’t really seem like Havik. Like, the Havik from the end of the story feels like the real Havik to me. Li Mei is a bit generic, same with Reiko tbh even though his gameplay is solid, just boring. Nitara’s design is good but she’s not a super great character and of course her VA is atrocious.

Best is Ashrah. She'll probably become mainstay.

I think NRS likes Li Mei the most but she is the least played of the 5 with the weakest design.

Reiko has some cool costumes but people hate his backstory. So he is divided among fans.

Nitara has a bad voice, but she is surprising fun to play despite being low tier. Jueks, Deoxys and Sonicfox plays her quite a bit. So she wins points there.

Havik is divided in terms of design. But I think the real Havik will come back in Aftermath which is the one people are waiting for. This will probably boost his popularity more.

Winner is Ashrah. Loser is Li Mei unfortunately. This is mostly base on playability. But since nobody is shit talking about Ashrah design, backstory and gameplay, she comes out ahead of everyone.

Li Mei is my favorite of the returning 3D-era characters. In fact, she's been my main in the game so far (even over Kitana, who was my main in the past three games). Nitara is fun to use too.

Absolutely Li Mei. I didn't really care for her at all during the 3D era and now I think she's just so cool. Great re-design for her. Plus her visuals with all the pink and fireworks and explosions just looks awesome when you're playing the game.

While I like playing Ashrah, I don't think her re-design is the best because imo she just looks too much like an injustice character to me and I also can't stand her default with the weird hairline and ugly ass hairstyle. I have to use the skin with the hat to avoid that and so her design is lower than Li Mei to me.

Reiko is easily the worst and still super boring. Can't stand him. Go back to whichever game you came from you shao kahn mini me.

I think Ashrah has the best redesign, but I love the way Nitara plays. Really feels different with her movement and draining ability. I don't know if I've just played her too long but the voice isn't even annoying me anymore. It's definitely worse in the story.

I think it's the level that's different here. Meghan Fox's voice acting is the worst in-game voice acting I've heard since Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man, or Viggo Mortenson in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It sounds like she really is just dryly reading lines off a script. There's no emotion or inflection in her lines.

While his voice acting isn't exactly spectacular in this game, at least Van Dam has some emotion there. Same with Ronda in Mortal Kombat 11.

I voted Li Mei and Reiko. I like Mei’s redesign into a constable/cop she’s got a beautiful face too. Still miss her 3D attire though. And Reiko because of his gladiator aesthetic. It’s dope but fire whoever gave this man the best projectile when he’s supposed to be a brawler/grappler.

Ashrah is one of my fav 3D characters but I don’t like her face redesign. Her face should be beautiful. And it also shows how many demons she’s killed to purify herself to that point. The hairline and facial tats just don’t do it for me. Havik with the emo hair is just a fail and I don’t get it but they nailed his gameplay. Lol at nitara

Nah I get it, but I would have just preferred them to do a complete bloodsport costume for the JCVD content and also given us an MK1 accurate costume with Danny Pesina likeness as well.

like the wrist wraps over the spiked gauntlets is weird seeing as he never used wraps in bloodsport.

Ashrah , no doubt about it ...... she looked generic and boring in the past, but now, looks interesting and I hope she comes back in MK2

Li Mei looks good too, but lacks a better and proper outfit ..... her generic Sun Do police costume is bad ..... where is the sexy Li Mei ? hehe

Ashrah without a doubt, love her to bit, but agree with @BKV2 that I'm not keen on the hairline and facial marks, though always want her in her hat anyway, so the moment I unlocked that skin in white I never returned to her default.

Nitara is awful, HATE her voice to the point that she's unplayable for me, and not a fan of her faux-hawk haircut on her default design. I honestly played the game on mute whilst leveling her up to get her alt skin in red and purple.

JCVD's voice acting I'm fine with, he sounds like he's having fun with it and it's a pure novelty fourth-wall breaking skin you don't have to have applied if you don't like his voice acting, unlike Nitara who's stuck with that godawful voice no matter what (what I'd give for her to sound like MK11 Skarlet!). But considering how poor JCVD's English was in defining roles like Street Fighter, it kind of adds to the fun of hearing him delivering in classic JCVD style and I'm not usually one for novelty elements in my Mortal Kombat. In fact, I've actually got him set as my default skin for Johnny since I miss the MK1 design, but also (and probably an unpopular opinion here) I'm absolutely sick of Andrew Bowen's voice and delivery for the last 3 games, really wish they'd use Joel McHale from Mortal Kombat Legends instead.
