Not sure where to put this thread and I know it doesnt concern most of you guys...

But in my search for some Aussie players and a MK9 scene came accross 'Mortal Kombat Australia' at 'mortalkombat.com.au' thanks to TonyT.. cheers mate.

Signed up last night and thought my search was over, but this morning the site has disappeared. At first the site loaded but the page said the account was suspended. A few hours later and the site address is now 'Forbiden'

Has anyone heard anything?

Site could be down for maintenance, which I doubt, or more likely the AuGovernment SOB's have shut it down...F******!!

I can watch all sorts of nasty ass **** because we have an X rating for films and that’s perfectly legal.

Yet... I can’t play MK9! At least not without breaking the 'Law'. Ready for even more stupid? The fine for importing MK9 (or any banned game) is $100,000. That’s not a typo. I’ll say it again ... $100,000!

Hence the reason the Aussie scene is almost non-existent. I'm putting together a friendly tourney/piss up to try and get some interest going.

Only 2 of the 8 people (including myself) even play MK9, but should be a fun night regardless. Hopefully the other guys like it so much they import a copy and repeat the process.

Australia's censorship laws on some videogames are borderline Socialist. They're releasing the 18 plus rating by the end of this year though so maybe it will get overturned.

Anyway, back on topic. The address now has "Internal Server Error" stamped on it, in big letters. Looks like its been shot down for sure. I've emailed site admin for some info on it.

It's not just MK. Something else got banned earlier too. I think Grand Theft Auto got banned. Didn't CivV get banned because it had Germany in it or because you could mod in Hitler or some other stoopid thing?

I took my copy with me to Sydney the week after it came out, felt like such a rush getting it through customs.....

Sucked trying to find a game online though, I got 'Game session no longer available' at the character select screen of 9 out of 10 games. I don't envy you guys.

Funny you should mention that, as a friend of a friend knows the owner of the Mana Bar in Brisy and is asking him if we can run the MK9 Tourney (I'm trying to put together) there. I don't think he'll go for it due to legal reasons but you never know. If the day comes when MK9 is legal in Australia, I'll be all over it.

Yeh mate, that's why I'm putting a Tourney together and trying to find other players for local play. Our internet in Australia isn't adequate enough to play MK9 properly. At best we can only play people in Australia, the lag wont let us play anyone from OS.

ON TOPIC - The website seems to back up... so um... yeh... dont worry about it... haha... As Bill Hicks once said, I kind of feel like that stoned guy who lost his keys "Dont worry!.... I found em... I was sitting on them haha... seeya tomorrow"
