Idea for variations in future NRS games

More balancing is required, along what variation specifics and what universal tools a character should have.

MKX suffers of the current problem that some variations have moves with poor utility, some of the moves are just kinda "there" the lack of purpose of utilizing certain moves because either the character has a better one, or he doesn't need it.
 
Variations are some of the best ideas in general. It's such a good idea. IMO 3 variations is the perfect number. They just need to "perfect" it in the next game. No more Bullshit like high tech, mournful, and ethereal. Bruh, don't get me started on the vile Reptile that lives in the Nile. He is the poster boy for how variations shouldn't work. Every character just needs to have 3 very very solid variations. Balancing is a must. If they can't do that, don't do variations.
 
Variation system is awesome! I mean i wouldnt play sonya if she didnt had her generade variation, wouldnt play quan if he didnt had his armor portal and chip portal, wouldnt play JC if he didnt had his cancels(lets be real if there were no variation sytem in mkx, NRS would give Stunt double kit as his normal kit because it looks way cooler and interesting(or fisticuffs. Because everyone thought a list was trash before exploring him)) wouldnt play shinnok if he didnt had his mimic. I mean even if you dont like the character you may find a variation that fits your playstyle. And if you are a character specialist you can switch to a different variation depending on the MU(or if you are just bored). I love the variation system. And i want it in mk 11!

The variation system completely misses the mark for me. It has just created unnecessary work for the developers as i suspected, many variations are just not that good/useless. Focus on a bigger roster, balance, and more stages.
Lol no. Most of the variations are usefull. Roster is REALLY balanced except few cough Kobu cough Tempest cough Invinciblenutpunch. Example: there werent any same variation in the top 8 of KIT. Variation system gives the biggest roster... Like i said you may find a variation that you like even if you are not interested in the character.

I actually like variations, and I would like them to do more with them in the future. I wouldn't mind seeing it in Injustice 2, to be honest:
  • Only 2 variations per character: One variation that is based off of the 1 of the 2 worlds in Injustice. For an example: Superman variation 1 would be normal Superman (from the normal world) with all his normal stuff, while variation 2 would be Evil Superman (from the alternate world) and would replace some of his moves with Zod-style moves.
  • Variations would be more fleshed out, and would continued to be handled as separate characters (no switching between rounds, or anything like that).
  • No crap variations like Reptile's, and no story-less variations like Ethereal Mileena -- all variations would have a place in the story and purpose in gameplay.
EDIT: I wouldn't mind if it made it in the game or not, though. I'm fine either way.

EDIT: One more thing: Maybe variations could change character traits?
I like them to. The game is a lot deeper

I really like the variations, and now that the game is more mature(despite not being even one year old), it's starting to show the goodness of this feature. Kit already was a good demonstration about characters and variations. They sure still have to polish things some more, but they are in the right direction, and i feel people are still too much in the comfort zone concerning some characters. I sure hope the system stays in future games, it gives way more flavor to each character.

No offence but the idea of changing variations between rounds was dead before it even got a chance to live

let us be real here, if they get rid of variation system in future games they are not going to give one character all the moves from all variations.

More content is always welcome.

Add something new for future games but keep the variations and run mechanics.

Edit: 95% of people who buy NRS games are casual, not everyone cares about tournament scene and balance.

Reptile doesn't have variations, he has sh*tty traits from Injustice disguised as variations.

Some nice ideas, I remember Boon saying he was considering a 4th "bare bones" variation with no specials etc that could prove interesting. I'd love to see the braggy players win with those variations lol.

Or just streams whatever, MK 11 won't be surprised if they do that or add it.

I'd like to see an option for MK 11 where we can choose run or dash combos meaning either running or long dashes with variation options, maybe have more options and choices per variation.
