Time for the grand finale!
The first season of year 2 is in the books and it was a grand finale indeed. This week's theme was "sniping", Max, Han and Jeremiah's term for a hail mary surprise character switch. N1k0lass was the biggest offender this week, starting off unsuccessfully with Deathstroke against my Catwoman before making hay in losers against Jeremiah, Grawlix and nearly Saucy Jack in losers semis. With Saucy Jack's Superman dominating his Deathstroke N1k0lass went back to Ares and won a convincing 2 games to tie it up 2-2. Inspired by the Greek warrior's earlier sniping Saucy Jack switched characters for the first time in months and out sniped the sniper with a shocking Green Arrow counter pick. Jack won the shitter vs. shitter encounter and actually took Selina to the limit. This was a must see match with a comeback that will be hard to top anytime soon. In the end with all the character swapping shenanigans out of the way it ended up being a familiar grand finals between Chicago's top character specialists. For the 7th time in 13 weeks Bane vs. Catwoman battled it out in the grand finals. The games were close but the cat's back was broken.
Unfortunately for Max although he won this week's tournament I had enough points that he was unable to win the season, my victory over Jim's Flash in round 2 of winners making it mathmatically impossible for Max to overcome the points difference. This season was our most successful yet, with us both winning more GBS in one season than we had before and both of us earning more points than anyone had in a single season. Next week starts season 6, which will be the final full 13 week season before MKX is released. Are Bane vs. Catwoman grand finals the end game for the Chicago Injustice scene or will new challenges emerge? One thing is sure: the hype, salt and oddball shenanigans will continue up until MKX's release.
PPJ promised his return to GBS last week but was sick and unable to attend. Expect him back next week to kick off the new season. There are rumors he may be debuting a new character.
Grawlix was still on break from work and was able to participate. He showed last week wasn't a fluke by defeating Saucy Jack in another nail biter and had N1k0lass on the ropes until he got sniped by Doomsday. Grawlix has one more week until he's returning to work so expect him to be gunning for at least one more scalp to take home to Themyscira.
