Does voice chat work on PS3?

I'd like to get some games going with some mates but not sure if VOIP works. I've heard it works for KotH but not normal games.

It works, pretty fluidly considering it's crappy ass Gamespy. Borderlands voice chat on PS3 is so bad that my buddies and I have to resort to using Skype to play together.

So far it works only in KOTH mode on PS3...
