Locals should definitely try 60 AND 30 seconds. 60 might be good but 30 could be even better.

Does anyone think if the community really liked the time change, that NRS would change it or at least allow us to for online matches?

@FOREVER KING, @FOREVER KING JR, @General M2Dave, and I tested out 30 seconds earlier. It's fun and frantic, but time outs happen probably too often. They weren't every round, but happened often enough that it was probably a bit too much, but it was heavily dependent on who we used. A match like Lao vs Reptile was rarely timed out still, but F/T matches could have a lot of them.

I still think it's probably the best setting. It's really enjoyable and lame play really became a viable option. I like it a lot.

Oh shit we got a meta change boys.

Can anyone explain to me the benefit of having a difference between "in-game seconds" and "real life seconds"? I really don't understand the need to make up units of time
For the fake hype in game. Cause you'd have to make time based decisions on that clock. I think it probably started with arcade games making the clock faster to drain more quarters. I was playing some fightcade and some games just seem to have timeouts all the time. Either one of these coupled with the fact the settings have always been 30/60/90/infinite. Just one of those legacy things FGs get stuck on.

I reckon we all experiment with 60 first than 30

Till Paulo patches in 50 and 40

I think making 60 seconds actually 60 would help hugely

Probably so they don't have to go into triple digits if they need to add more time. i.e. They want the round to last 120 seconds but they don't want to ruin the graphical interface by having an extra digit on the clock.

I think switching it to 60 seconds would not make a big difference. Even incredibly lame games may last 50...but how fast projectiles are and the cool down on whiffed fan, machine gun, or dark beam, you can't play lame enough to last the whole time. The Zoners in this game are Zoners because their projectiles are faster and easily repeated...not because they have several options to hit you with. Ancestral KJ will never be better than Kitana because Kitana's start up and cool down is so much faster.

So even people that play lame or defensive will still win in 45 seconds or so.

So changing to 60 seconds might affect a Zoner vs Zoner match but nothing else.

So I don't see why not do it.

There he said it. "The best MK player in history " said it. Now what all of you Sonicfox's dick riders gotta say about that? Can all of you dick riders just admit it now? Wanna call Sonicfox crazy now? lol
Umm...everyone and their mother were pretty much in agreement that this is an offense heavy game since day 1.

So which locals are planning on testing this soon? What local TO's can we tag in this thread to get the ball rolling?

So to shed some new light on this thread/topic:

My local has done two tournaments using a 60 second timer as opposed to the regular 90 second timer. Not once in ANY of the matches to my knowledge has there been an instance of a possible timeout. My conclusion? Why not?

Why not use a 60 second timer instead of a 90 second timer when they both result in a time out not likely to happen? At least with the 60 second timer, it's plausible, just highly unlikely. To be honest, there should be an option to have an in-game timer of 50 seconds for time outs to be a possibility but 60 seconds in the best we can do. 30 seconds is much too short.

For those of you that aren't aware, the in game seconds are not equivalent to real time seconds. They are as follows:

90 seconds in game equals 150 real seconds (2 minutes 30 seconds)
60 seconds in game equals 100 real seconds (1 minute 40 seconds)
30 seconds in game equals 50 real seconds

Here is match footage from my two local tournaments using the 60 second timer.

And on a side note, I've also played a lengthy amount of casuals both with my bro and players from my local scene for well over 10 hours using a 60 second timer and we still haven't encountered a timeout to my knowledge.

Along the same lines here, I'm surprised MKX doesn't do FT3 as the standard.
I wondered if it was due to the amount of entrants at big events, but honestly, the games go by so fast I don't think it'd take up that much extra time. And that one extra game could be just enough to figure out a way past some of the nonsense being thrown at you and lessens the "random factor" a bit.
