Many of our veteran users may remember "CaliMaestro" from a few years ago on the forums. He's been busy with life and we haven't heard from him much at all. Well, he has recently come to us with some pretty interesting details concerning a new "indie" fighting game that he and his wife have been working on. CaliMaestro, with years of experience in the video game industry and his wife with equal experience in the film industry... would like to reveal and announce a brand new fighting game that will be play-tested by members of Epic Gamer Productions (or EGP).

Addition details from CaliMaestro:

Hi TYM!

Well, the time is now, and I can now spill the beans! I've left my safe and secure job in California as a video game Producer to startup a new development studio called Hollow Rock Entertainment along with my wife. The studio is comprised of my wife as CEO (film and business graduate from USC), myself as Creative Director & Lead Developer, and one artist. We will be adding people soon though.

We have moved back to my home state of Alabama. We already own a house here, and now that we no longer have the crazy expensive California cost of living... we can put more into the game.
The game is called 'Fright Fights', the name is an omage to the classic horror movie 'Fright Night'. My wife has secured the rights to several famous horror genre figures from both film and literature - and these are the characters that players will be using when playing the game.

'Fright Fights' is a 2D fighter currently featuring the folowing cast:

-The Phantom of the Opera
-Nosferatu
-Van Helsing
-Dracula
-Dr. Frankenstein
-Frankenstein's Monster
-Dr. Jeckyll
-Mr. Hyde

There are many more characters that we are in the process of closing out the rights to having - but until we finish the legal process, we cannot yet announce who the rest of the cast is.

The coolest part of the project though is that we have partnered directly with Chaney Entertainment. Lon Chaney Sr. played the original and most classic version of the Phantom of the Opera, and his son, Lon Chaney Jr., was famous for his depiction of the Wolf Man in the classic 1930s Universal version of The Wolf Man.

Chaney Entertainment is comprised of the surviving Chaney family members, and they are looking to bring their family characters and history to a new and younger audience via this game. You can imagine how excited we are to be developing this game alongside such a historic film family.

You can expect members of our EGP team to be helping playtest and balance the game. I'll also be looking to enlist key members from the MK and Injustice scene if they are interested in helping.
There is a Kickstarter campaign going live next week to support the project. Any help you could give us leading up to then would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you could run an article the day that the Kickstarter goes live... you have no idea how much we would appreciate it.
You and all of TYM have a spot waiting in the game credits =)

The game will be available on PC, Mac, iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, Linux, and we are looking into Playstation 4 and Vita.

Thanks so much!
Adam 'CaliMaestro' Smith

I'm most interested in the "ghostly" persons in the background... that their "super"? That would be sick!

Thanks! We are on day 4 of development, just give us a few weeks and it will shape up quickly!
what concept are you working with for this fighter? any unique or cool systems to generate interest outside of "famous horror fighter"?

To all the people saying "Wtf" or "This sucks":
Can you make a better game yourself? No? Then don't be an asshole.

What kind of fighting game community are we if we don't even support fighting games made by our own?

Whatever the quality of the game may be, the least you can do is leave constructive criticism instead of bashing on the devs.

Reminds me of that one fighting game people were hyping up last year, the one by Italian devs I think, the super gory one.

Anyways, you might not want a moving background like that, might end up distracting, more subtle stages like that graveyard look good.
