The strongest year yet for Mortal Kombat? It has been arguably the greatest year in our game's competitive history as we not only look back at all of the tournaments that we have all attended including a 2nd year at Evolution as well as a full run in Major League Gaming's championships. We now move forward to the long-running East Coast tournament known as "Northeast Championships". Last year, DetroitBalln took the Mortal Kombat title over CD Jr in Grand Finals with his most impressive Shang Tsung/Jax. What will happen this year?

There are many surprises in store for U.S. competitors as competition is coming to us from as far away as Australia. That is correct, Cyrax legend, TONY-T and n-megabytes are making their way to NECXIII this weekend and plan to compete to the fullest. In addition to our Australian friends, many competitors are confirmed to be coming from Canada, California, Texas, Illinois, Florida, Puerto Rico and many other states across the U.S.

So how hype will this weekend be? Well, we are going to touch base on eight competitors that are confirmed for NECXIII and then you can tell us... just how hype NECXIII will be.

reo1.jpg
REO - He has the most consistant amount of wins and reputable tournament placings both last year and this year. Maining Kabal and known for 'breaking' him, REO has plans to put recent downplaying of his character to rest. He won two MLG events in a row, both of which consisted of the countrie's best players including the two-time Mortal Kombat Evo Champ, Perfect Legend. It will take a new bag of tricks for anyone to give him a challenge.

16bit.jpg
GGA 16 Bit - A character specialist who has long-gained the title of "Kitana of the World". 16 Bit along with his GGA partners are coming to NECXIII. Hungry for another victory ever since he dominated at SoCal Regionals last year over EGP Krayzie, 16 Bit is sure to push the East Coast competitors to their limits.

cdjr3.jpg
CD Jr - Perhaps the "Craziest" Dominican of his family, CD Jr is coming to NECXIII fully-prepared with his infamous Jax and Kung Lao. Ever since his sub-par performance at Season's Beatings months back, CD Jr has been training hard and aims to take nothing except 1st. His talents are not to be underestimated as at one time, he beat REO consecutively.

mono2.jpg
FGA Monopr - Hailing from Puerto Rico, he is one of the first Noob players to show the character's true potential. He has exceptionally speed and adaption making his Noob Saibot very much in the spotlight. How far he will get at NECXIII is very much under speculation as his history with U.S. competition is slim. In one of this last tournaments in the states at CEO, he placed he placed behind 5th. How much has his Noob improved since June?

sawnik.jpg
SawnikFawx - One of the youngest Mortal Kombat players... he is also a champion to several majors. His first major he won, East Coast Throwdown 4 was won over KevoDaMan, a Kabal player. Since then, SawnikFawx has not let up, in fact he recently took Summer Jam 6 as well. The only thing is... both events he won were during MLG events where several top players including REO and CD Jr were at. Does Sawnik have what it takes to take on today's current best?

bigd1.jpg
Big D - A Florida competitor with a strong local scene and backing, Big D is best known for his Nightwlf and Ermac. He has recently confirmed himself for Mortal Kombat at NECXIII making it his first time in the Northeast? Out of all 'underdogs', Big D took 3rd place at CEO earlier this year right behind REO and CD Jr. With the success of donations giving him another opportunity, his chances of redemption are quite high.

tyrant.jpg
EGP Tyrant - He is confirmed. He is bringing Jax with new tricks. Both Tyrant and Krayzie are making their way from the West Coast to compete at NECXIII. Tyrant is known for his incredible pressure system with Jax and he displayed this recently at MLG against Sonya prospect, GamerBlake. Tyrant has the tournament experience of Evo and MLG... and he has a hunger like no one else to take the Northeast to the last round.

tony1.jpg
TONY-T - The infamous Cyrax player from Australia, need we say more? TONY-T and n-megabytes are confirmed for NECXIII and are actually in New York as we speak. Not only will we see his Cyrax against the USA's competition for the first time, but we will see if the US is ready for his ridiculous Cyrax resets and set-ups. Considered one of the founders of today's Cyrax, TONY-T is sure to bring the hype without even trying. He's been in a country where Mortal Kombat was banned... and is coming to a US tournament where he can unleash hell.

tom1.jpg
Tom Brady - Last but certainly not least... Tom is making the most triumphant return in his competitive Mortal Kombat career. After being 'the man' for the community behind the microphone at MLG events... watching it all go down before his eyes has given him a hunger like no other. He is tired of watching. He will be making his official return at NECXIII as a competitor. That's right, America's favorite Sub-Zero player is back in action! Will the rust be too thick or will we see a 'new' Tom Brady?

NECXIII - This weekend... December 1st - 2nd in Philadelphia, Pa.

Good luck to everyone attending,....this will be epic. It's so epic I don't even have a pick for top 1-8. i don't care who wins tbh, because the amount the kommunity will benefit from this will be more important.

mono shouldn't really be on that list.....I mean it's cool that he is traveling far...but he isn't even close to the level of those other guys
