I'm not sure if this was already known, but while I was labbing Sektor's gaps I found this interesting inconsistency on his f212bb:
With that input timing, results are as follows:
BACKDASHES on BLOCK
DOESN'T BACKDASH on HIT
DOESN'T BACKDASH on WHIFF (most of the times)
BACKDASHES when performed a REVERSAL in this gap
BACKDASHES on WHIFF if you hit a sweet spot
EDIT: I've noticed that when switching sides the input changes, so doing so with some timing is probably what hits that sweet spot on whiff.
THAT WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE
With another IA recording the exact opposite happened: it BACKDASHED on HIT and it DIDN'T BACKDASH on BLOCK. I forgot what happened on WHIFF, but I'll try to get the input sequence again later on.
I tend to backdash by pressing back 3 times (as seen in the video), so that might be the issue.
And if this was known already... well have a good day.
