Maybe. I never found the character all that memorable, just found him very bland in MK4. With MKX though he could definitely be revamped enough to be pretty cool.

Well, most characters were bland by design back then. Even Sub and Scorpion were bland if you really think about it. With Deadly Alliance they started changing that.

They could definitely reinvent this character in the next game like they've done with Tanya in MKX move set wise and even story wise. There could be some rivalry between him and Liu but who the fuck the know what NRS is planning next.

Oh yeah, now I remember that Liu after the third tournament went to United States to find new fighters to train, Kai was his student and friend, so I believe that never happened in this timeline..

No. Good God no. There's no way I can take both NoRaiCho and Kai in the same game. I'd have no choice but to pull the trigger out of principle.

When MK4 was released i thought that Kai was the most boring, lackluster character in the whole roster. Like seriously it's enough that we have Kung Jin...(god, every time i see him im like... WTF)

There are so many interesting characters that they could include in the next dlc.... Kai definitely isn't one of them.

Kai is cool and I like his concept, but he needs a slight redesign and based on how much he changed from MK4 and in MKA, idk if the team knows what to do with him lol

At least he wasn't just ''that black guy'' token. Like I said previously, back then characters were created with minimal details. Deadly Alliance changed things how the MK characters looked like aesthetically. Sub-Zero and Scorpion being the best example. Kai could get a revamp that might be cool in future installments.
